| What types of vacations We are new to the traveling scene with a pet. We want to take a spring vacation next year but we want to take Coco. We haven't decided where we want to go just jet but we want her to be able to go wherever we go. In your experiences what types of vacations seem to work best for you and your furbaby? Any particular locations that you've been that really turned out great? |

| We've been on a few...we just did camping for the first time and LOVED it! My suggestion would be to make a list of where *you* would like to go. And then go from there.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | \what type of vacation are you looking for? We did camping for years and years and always went to provincial parks that had a) hiking trails and b) water access for the dogs. As we love to hike and swim with the pups. Now we do cottaging, same idea, water, hikes, but it is easier to leave the pups for a quick shopping trip for 1-2 hours as we leave them in the cottage. I read recently somewhere about the 10 most friendly dog cities in the USA. I am sure a google search could bring that up for you. Motels/hotels that take dogs, are fewer, and they will be less sanguine about a dog barking if you need to leave them for one or two hours. I think both of you need to be honest with one another, about what makes a vacation enjoyable for both of you; and the answers could be dis-similar. Whether you vacation in a city at a dog friendly hotel/motel, or camp, or cottage; there will be restrictions on both your time/activities, because of your dogs. My hubby for instance would love to go to Ireland for a two wk visit. Taking the dogs there, would be almost impossible; and I don't want to leave them for two weeks! So we have not gone yet...... The longest we have left a dog/cat in boarding was one week. I was antsy the whole bloody time! I called three times.....

| yeah, that's me. Now that we have Coco we don't like to leave her any longer than we have to. We used to go on cruises a lot but that's in the past now that we have her. I don't regret adopting her at all. We truly have been blessed by her sweet little presence in our lives. I had been thinking about renting a beach front house so that she can go with us. We haven't done much traveling along the east coast and so that's what we are thinking. BTW, if you ever get the chance to go to Ireland....DO IT!!!! Awesome trip!! |

| Ellie has gone from MI to GA with us by car. The Gatlinburg, TN area is really cool and (while we didn't do much there that trip) it is supposed to be very dog friendly. we just flew to AZ to see a YT member. Went to the Grand Canyon today. Somewhat dog friendly but many restrictions (although nobody seemed to enforce the rukes ).
