\what type of vacation are you looking for? We did camping for years and years and always went to provincial parks that had a) hiking trails and b) water access for the dogs. As we love to hike and swim with the pups. Now we do cottaging, same idea, water, hikes, but it is easier to leave the pups for a quick shopping trip for 1-2 hours as we leave them in the cottage.

I read recently somewhere about the 10 most friendly dog cities in the USA. I am sure a google search could bring that up for you.

Motels/hotels that take dogs, are fewer, and they will be less sanguine about a dog barking if you need to leave them for one or two hours.

I think both of you need to be honest with one another, about what makes a vacation enjoyable for both of you; and the answers could be dis-similar.

Whether you vacation in a city at a dog friendly hotel/motel, or camp, or cottage; there will be restrictions on both your time/activities, because of your dogs.

My hubby for instance would love to go to Ireland for a two wk visit. Taking the dogs there, would be almost impossible; and I don't want to leave them for two weeks! So we have not gone yet......

The longest we have left a dog/cat in boarding was one week. I was antsy the whole bloody time!

I called three times.....
