| Going to New York We will be going to NYC, anybody who has a good idea of what to visit or a place NOT to go, please let me know, I have never been before and will have 3 days in the down town area. How are the peoples and shops etc. about little dogs? The flying does not bother me as Sprocket has done the plane ride thing before and it went quite well, at least as well as could be hoped for (he did better than me) and Sprocket recovers from the flight faster too. Oh, we are flying into JFK, can we take a taxi to mid town? I think the hotel is Broadway and 49th, is that far? Are hotels fussy about the little dogs, I know they say NO but really? I am quite excited so PLEASE, any ideas and thanks so much. Thank you!!!!!

YT 1000 Club Member | Hi and welcome to New York! You will love it in the Big Apple. Lots and lots of great things to do and see, and yes, quite a selection of ethnic foods. Make sure you pack comfortable walking shoes and don't forget to check out the designer shops on 5th and Madison Avenues. As for the hotel, I am guessing you already informed them that you are bringing Sprocket. I'd be really careful letting him walk on the streets of NYC as it is quite busy and crowded and he would easily get trampled.

| Thanks for the info about the side walks being crowded, I hadn't thought of that, what should I do, carry him or bring a stroller? Any place special to see? Can I take the dog in the taxi's? Are they safe? Silly I know, but at home we walk every where so it is a big unknown. Thanks for the info.

| when are you going? If you have a stroller I would pack it, it will come in handy there. I go to NY a lot and finally had a stroller sent to my parents house so I would have. There are tons of pet events that go on in NYC so if you let me know when you will be there I will see if something is going on, a lot of my yorkie facebook friends live in NYC but it seems like not many YT people are from the city area.

| Good thread, I'm wondering the same thing too. We've talked about traveling plans to NY with Tessa either this year or next but sure if there are many pet friendly places and hotels. I am bumping this up just in case someone can provide us more info. |

| Welcome to NY when you come!! There are plenty of restaurants with outdoor seating where you can bring your pup! Also if you carry or have a stroller most clothing stores/shops don't bother you. You can bring furry friends in cabs as well. Prob the subway as well but not sure. There are street fairs a lot and many people have dogs with them. Also lots of dog parks you can google to see where they are. As for museums, I have not seen dogs in there but maybe in a stroller it would be ok. You could call and ask. Hope this helps! |

| Welcome to NY. NYC is very dog friendly! Most of the restaurants with outdoor seating have no issues with dogs. Shops usually have no problems with dogs. Sure take a taxi from JFK. There should be a flat rate which I believe is $45. A great place indoors to take your pup, maybe if it is raining, are the Shops at Columbus circle. (59th street and Columbus ave). Not too far from where you are staying. I see dogs there all the time walking around. As others have said, let us know when you are coming as there are many dog events and street fairs. |
