| Our first hotel stay with Lulu In a few weeks, my husband is going on a business trip for 5 days. Since this trip is within driving distance (2.5 hrs), I am going to get to go with him as a "vacation". The hotel my husband originally booked did not allow pets. He was wonderful enough to call around and find a hotel within walking distance of his meeting site that does allow pets for a small pet fee. So he and I will still be able to meet everyday for lunch & Lulu gets to go on the trip with us!! I am so thrilled about this! While my husband is gone to his meetings during the day, Lulu and I can take walks, visit the pool, or just chill in our suite. I will have the best company! Any tips for me for our first road trip & hotel stay?

| I would check with the hotel- most, while pet friendly, do not allow pets in the pool area or other common areas of the hotel. Make sure you have a crate in case you need to leave her alone in the room. Make sure her tag has your cell phone number on it. Carry her vaccination records with you, also take a current photo of her with you. Research before you go and have the name, phone number, and address, as well as directions from the hotel to a local emergency vet. Carry bottles of the water she is used to drinking with you. I will try to think of more.

| Great advice! I will definitely check about the pool area. I thought about it after posting and figured it might not be allowed. Thanks for all the advice...most I never would've thought of.

When we've traveled if the dogs have to stay in our room while we're out, I hang the "do not disturb" sign on the door. This keeps housekeeping from even opening your door as they don't want to clean a room if they don't have to. I can always get extra towels, etc. later and it doesn't matter to me if my hotel bed is made up every day. For stay-over guests they never clean the entire room all that well anyway, and I just as soon most of the hotel staff not know I have my precious dogs inside.

| Just thought I would update everyone. We are on day 2 of our 5 day trip. Lulu is doing wonderfully! She didn't sleep well last night, but neither did my husband or I. Lulu is enjoying our walks around the city (we are from the country so she is not used to all the people, cars, & buildings). She is handling things very well & is a delight to travel with. She is not scared of the noise one bit & walks around like a pro. She does come back to the room from our walks ready for a nap. But so do I. LOL!
