| I'm fairly certain it's 5 dogs per flight not 3(excluding any service animals). So if you have 3 just make sure you call right when you book your flight. I had one bad experience and one funny one flying with Kasha to NY from Fla. It's just shy of 3 hours. I made sure to prep her with her bag ... she LOVES the medium Sherpa(the small was TINY even for my 4.5lb baby) and gave her the vet approved dose of kids benadryl before we left for the airport & before going on the plane. She got REALLY excited while waiting to board but settled down after take off. I put my foot in her bag & we both went to sleep. About 20 mins later I woke to hear the flight attendants grinning and asking me "is this yours?" holding my squirming baby. Oops. She had run all the way (8 rows) to the front of the plane. I guess her escapes are not limited to leaping over gates. She threw up on the ride home and yelped the whole way. I really love the "take a rest command" might have to try that before our next flight this weekend. someone suggested in another thread to bring a picture with you in case your furbaby decides to be a furbrat. I did that and it helped when she was yelping so people cooed over her pics rather than rolling their eyes. Goodluck everyone with your first time flights. It's much less stressful than you think

When you arrive at the airport, you need to go to your airline counter before going through security....just like you do if you are checking bags (but not curbside check in - you need to go to the inside desk) and you will pay there. You will give them the confirmation number, and they may ask to see his paperwork and possibly see him out of his carrier. Once you have paid, make sure they give you a receipt of the fee payment. I had a gate agent ask to see the receipt when boarding. After that, you are off to security. You will have to take him out of his bag, and carry him through the xray. Then its back in the bag and down to your gate for boarding. Enjoy your trip | |

| I'm flying to MI tomorrow with Khloe....its only a 2.5 hour flight, and im nervous! I dont have an official "certificate" from my vet saying shes in good health, but I got her shots on monday, and the lady told me over the phone to just bring the paperwork showing she had them. So I hope it works and the lady was correct! has anyone ever used just shot records, and not an official certificate? |

| allegiant air.... I called them and they said the papers would be fine, but I hope i dont have any problems when i get there. also, Khloes bag is a couple is 11 inches high, and they require a height of 9in max, does that matter with the collapsible carriers? thats just a couple inches that i can use to squeeze her under the seat. She still has plenty of room if we push the top down a little, so i think it should be fine. The tag said airline approved. |

I paid for Cooper at the ticket counter. They put a tag on the carrier.

When I took Kaji on a plane ride, I did everything legitimately, my conscious wouldn't allow me to do anything otherwise. I had Kaji in his carrier when I reached the counter and they didn't ask me to see the dog or his paperwork, I have a Kwigy Bo bag that looks like a purse. All they gave me was a receipt that said I had paid the counter $200, didn't even say why. At security, all they asked was for me to put the carrier in the xray machine, and to carry Kaji naked through the metal detector. It wasn't that big of a deal. I carried him and let him walk through the airport. No one said anything other than "cute puppy!" While we waited for the plane, we (as in my entire family and Kaji) picked a secluded row of seats near a window. We used our carry on luggage to build a "fence" and Kaji walked among us watching the airplanes go by. Again, airline and airport workers said nothing. When it was time to board, I put Kaji in his carrier and walked on with no problems and no incident. After take off, I put him on my lap and we both slept the entire way. He went back in for landing. I did the same thing on our plane ride home. Not once was I asked to show the receipt, or his health certificate, and I had both. I think if Kaji was a hyper active, loud dog, I would have been asked to keep him in his carrier. Kaji is so mellow, and since he was dressed up I bet he looked more like a teddy bear. I did make sure to tire him out before getting to the airport, and I let him potty in the bathroom 20 mins before boarding, I brought piddle pads with me and poop bags to put the used piddle pads in. Also, our flights were late night when I knew less people would be there, or they would be sleeping.
