See if you can have them come to your house for your physical therapy......if they were suggesting you needed to go into a rehab facility for rehab, they can order that therapy be done at your home, 2-3 times a week and Medicare pays for it.....I am not harrassing you, but I want to be absolutely certain that you are getting the therapy and care you need to get back 100%. |
Oh no Yorkiemom1, or should I say "Cuz"? :D I don't think of you offering help as harassment at all! You've been extremely helpful to me and my son throughout this whole ordeal. :) That also reminds me, my memory seems to be affected also. I was so mentally confused at the time this was going on, I thought I dreamt that Lynzy420 had left a very instrumental post, I want to be sure and Thank her also. My BF had called and my 1st. therapy session was set up for today but they called back and rescheduled it. They said their best Stroke Therapist comes in on Thursday evenings. I didn't realize they could come to my home and of course they didn't offer. I will definitely call them back on Monday, that would be so much easier! |
Carla, I'm just checking in to see how you are doing today. I hope each day you will feel better. Take good care of yourself and cuddle up with Yazmin. I'm praying for you and your son too. He's wonderful. Valerie |

I went to sleep with my iPad in my bed and hearing the sound of new emails, but was too sick and weak to check them. When I woke up the next morning my son opened my email for me and clicked on the link to YT. All of a sudden I saw several posts from so many people but your post caught my eye because I felt I was living your nightmare! I Thanked God and YOU for your post because you were saying what I hadn't been able to speak myself! I remember reading what you had been through and was feeling the exact way at the time but couldn't relay it to anyone. The more I read, the more I began to cry. My son was talking to my BF and realized something was wrong. When he asked me what what happening, I turned the iPad towards him and let him read your post. He and my BF all of a sudden realized why I had not been speaking. Because of you, my son started reading through this whole thread for the first time and realized just how many people were almost screaming through their post how serious a stroke was and how life threatening it could really become! I'm so sorry you went through such a horrible experience at the time. My heart was crying for you while I was reading your story but I was so grateful that you were here to share your experience with me. Thank God your ex husband was mindful enough to realize you needed help. My BF and my Son are very passive people and didn't know what to do! The doctor's kept repeating that they wouldn't be able to help me if I continued to have strokes because my veins kept collapsing! My BF and Son felt they just had to accept what might happen, I was screaming inside and so terrified at the time. :( Your post was a wake up call for my Son and made him take notice of this whole thread. This is when they both became strong and began to fight for me and for that, I will be forever grateful to you my friend... Thank you. :) |
Wow! I am so very glad you are home... a miracle in itself! I don't think I have ever been so afraid for someone else in my life! The first days in I was sure an ambulance crew could have done more for you than the hospital and doctors you had looking after you! I'd be making a plan now if you ever need to go to the ER in the future to be taken to that stroke specialty hospital Cousin Judy referred you to. Wishing you a super speedy recovery, sending hugs to you, Jason and the BF, and keeping you all in my daily prayers... |

Just checking to see how you are making it and letting you know still thinking and praying for you. I cried myself when I read about your crying reading lynzy420's post, thinking how desperate you must have felt! Poor thing - how awful what you were going through and are still dealing with. Thank goodness you made it out of that hospital and now know where to go for better treatment!!! After my hip surgery, I had home therapy for a time. I sure think you would qualify for it, too!!! |

I've known for a while my veins have been getting harder to locate or collapse easily, but I didn't realize how bad they were until this experience! The Paramedics tried 4 times also but couldn't locate a good vein either. I have an appointment with my Doctor to discuss either a PICC line or a Portacath. I had a Portacath inserted years ago for Chemo...and my luck, it even collapsed! Jason and the BF also knows that from now on, we're taking "cousin Judy's" advice and going straight to Akron General Hospital and asking for Dr. James Gebel. No questions asked! :) Quote:
I was so grateful to lynzy420 for taking the time to post what she had been through, because again I honestly wasn't able to convey it or say what I was going through myself! It was also so heartbreaking to read what she had gone through so long ago but sounded just as terrifying as if it had happened to her only yesterday. :( I owe it to her that my son took notice that something was wrong at the time and I truly can't thank her enough! |
I have fallen behind on reading the posts here on YT. I want to say I AM SORRY I did not write sooner but I just saw this thread today. I will be praying for your health and also that God will give you peace. I know how frightening health problems are. I deal with it every day myself. Is your furbaby keeping you company? I know that without my kids, I would probably give up. They keep me going. Again, I am sorry I did not see your original post sooner. I will be following it now. God bless and keep you, Louise and Zachary |
"I called today to inquire about therapy in my home and basically just got the run around! Once they realized I'm not a senior citizen, they said they're understaffed, that I needed both speech and physical therapy and that they wish the best for me to be able to find a friend or family member to bring me in! Thank God I do have my Son and BF to help me, I just pray they do show more concern and compassion towards the senior citizens!" *********** This is WRONG!! You need to contact the case manager/social worker at that hospital you were in, and tell them to arrange for you to receive home therapy, as indicated by your medical condition.!!!! That all should have already been set up for you by the case worker before you ever left the hospital!!! That is NOT your responsibility to take care of yourself and getting this set up....the hospital must do that! If you need to contact that doctor that eventually saw you and have HER talk to the social worker, do that. What if you did not have your son to take you in??? I dont know because I am not there, but it seems to me this hospital has mishandled this entire event, from day one.....they need to find a home health company that can come and take care of you in your home!!! Your AGE has NOTHING to do with it...it is your disabilities secondary to the strokes, that justify your in home care! |

Think of you today and sending best wishes, |
I'm sorry I haven't been keeping up! I'll have to go back and catch up on all that I missed, but wanted to say I am so thankful you are home and doing better! I've still been keeping you in my prayers and will continue to do so! I'm here if you ever need anything or just an ear! Will be keeping up with you and your recovery and continuing to keep you in my prayers! |

First of all, I never ONCE saw or spoke to a case manager or social worker EVER at the hospital. I wasn't aware that there should have been someone helping me until I read your post last night. The night I was released, Dr. Bowling came in and informed me that an ambulance was on it's way to transport me to a Rehab Center! That's when Jason spoke up immediately and told her he knew I would be even more stressed and wouldn't be able to rest if I couldn't be in my own home. (I missed Yazmin terribly) :D After his joke about "A Yorkie a day..." , she agreed. The Rehab Center called and again asked if I was a senior citizen? I told her that it had been brought to my attention that my age shouldn't be a factor, and that anyone at any age can have a Stroke! Her reply then was that she really didn't know why I'm not having in home Rehab and didn't know why no one spoke to me at the hospital. She then said that it may be because my records show that I do have a son and a BF listed as emergency contacts, and that they were sure I shouldn't have a problem getting to Rehab! She also said that she had no authority to set the in home Rehab up and in the meantime... maybe someone else will get back to me. You are so right, the whole ordeal with the Hospital and Rehab has been mishandled right from the beginning. I'm waiting to get my strength back. The hospital and the so called "Doctors", haven't heard the last from me. :) I truly appreciate you helping me through this, your knowledge has been so helpful. ;) |
