You may want to contact your insurance company about your insulin and test strips, sometimes they prefer a certain type of insulin or meter and you'll have a lower copay. Once after changing insurance companies, the co pay for my daughters meds shot up to 120.00 out of pocket per month, so I called the insurance company and they said if I switched to a different insulin and meter, my co pays would be 30.00 a month! I talked to the doctor and she wrote up new prescriptions (and saved me 90.00 a month). Maybe your insurance company works the same way? No harm in checking into it? Good luck!

I did ask my Dr. would it be more economical to switch to something else and he said there is no "generic" insulin so it would all run the same...so as you can see I will have to research it myself. Thanks for the advice! This truly is a new way of living and a different experience for me.. | |

| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | thank you everyone...I got good and bad news today. the good news is my dr. rewrote the prescription for my insulin pen, and I AM able to get a month's supply for the 30.00 copayment. the bad news is the rash on my back turned out to be shingles . dr. says my body is reacting to all the stress. so tonight, I am just pulling up the covers and hiding out, no wonder why I stay so tired. |

| Oh, Amy, I'm glad to hear you can get a month's supply of insulin for $30. What a relief! I am not so glad to hear that you have shingles. Both of my grandparents had shingles and it just had to run its course. Just take care of yourself and try to de-stress somehow. (I know it's easier said than done). It's a wonder my entire body is not one big shingle. I've been under stress for the past 4 years. On a good note......Betty Boop received her bows yesterday!! Oh my gosh, they are just beautiful! You do such meticulous work on your bows. Each one is a beauty in itself. I gave Betty Boop a bath this morning and put a bow in her hair to match a pull-over sweatshirt (says Sweetie on the back). I will post it later today. She just won't stay still long enough for me to get a good picture.

| I couldn't be happier with the bows, especially the red velvet one. I'm glad you are not having a lot of pain with the shingles. Hopefully, it will stay at "nuisance" level only.

| YT 1000 Club Member | I am glad you are getting better. My cousin who I live with has diabetes and is on the shots. Her sugar spikes for no reason it seems (of course I know she is not eating right) but I hate to see her sick. I am glad the shingles are not that bad. I'll say a prayer they go away fast for you. I wish you a speedy recovery.

| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks Joann. I am sticking to a low carb diet to the letter, in fact, my BS has been running too low, where I was concerned the insulin dose is too high. I brought it up yesterday, and Dr. changed the times I take the shot, but I still woke up in the middle of the night last night, with my blood sugar only at 43. I think low blood sugar makes you feel even worse than having it be high! I am just monitoring it really closely. I go back to the Dr. next Tuesday and will take my meter and maybe he will adjust it down for me then...he did tell me that he was pleased my blood sugar had dropped so good...I do not want to be on this forever if I can help it. |

GREAT! I think the gripzies are the best thing ever!!! They really do keep Darcy's bow straight in her hair, which makes me happier, which I am sure makes Darcy happier, since OCD Mama isn't messing with her all the time! Do you mind if I put his picture on my Facebook?Quote:
