I have been out all evening and couldn't get on here quick enough to see how he made out. If you can just imagine I made it here before the banning thread lol.. Seriously I am so glad he came through surgery okay and that the worst of the worry is behind you. Looking forward to updates on how Oliver is doing.

Oh Jeanne! I am so sorry I am just now seeing this! I feel so bad. My life has been so hectic lately that I just jump on here a few mins at a time and I just happened to catch a glance of Oliver's name in a title tonight and I thought

I was so happy to get to the end and to hear he is doing well. Poor little fellow, sounds like he will have a long road ahead of him but as others have said, he will be better off in the long run. You are a great Mommy! I'm sure it's tough having him there and you at home. Hang in there, he knows you love him!

Is he still going to be able to come to the meet up??? Oh I hope so. I just can't wait to see that little face in person. He is so dear!

Please keep us updated as you can. I will be praying for you both!

Thank you so much Jamie! You guys are all so sweet. I hope all is well with your dad..I know i haven't been on much lately either so i really miss all my friends..

I just called about Oliver...they said he is a little doll....so quiet...but no interest in food and no desire to use his legs

but that i shouldn't worry, after all, he only just had the surgery this morning. They will try again at midnight, but they said he is resting comfortably and has some powerful pain meds on board. God how i miss him! I have to call in the am and talk to the doc at 9am, but i will be calling when i get up at 5am just to check on him. Thank you for the message on my page...i am keeping your dad in my prayers as well Jamie.. I hope all will be well for him..

And of course he will be at the meetup! I cant wait for you all of us to meet!

Hi,
I will say a prayer for your baby. My maltese had the same diagnosis on both legs about 3 years ago. he is 5 1/2 now. After 2 opinions, I made the painful decision to go ahead with the surgery. Unfortunately, the first surgery didn't heal too well since he had callous around his knees. So we had to redo the surgery, imagine my poor poor baby. But now he is fine and occasionally I can still hear the cracking of his knees but not as bad. I hope I made the right decision.
However, I have 2 yorkies now and my husband said that if they are ever diagnosed with the LP, he will not allow my babies to get the surgery. Is that a bad decision?

Thank you for your prayers for my Oliver....i really do appreciate them. In our case i feel i made the right decision for him...he has really showing signs of pain lately and it has been getting worse. He is only 2 and a half and i wouldn't want him to end up not having full use of his legs. His most favorite thing in life is chasing his balls...I am sorry things didn't go real well with your Maltese, but, for me i would probably choose to do the surgery if it is something that is affecting the quality of life for the dog. I hope you never have to make that decision for your yorkies. I hope their little knees are strong and never give them any problems! Thank you again for your prayers for my baby!

Thank you all so much for checking in on Oliver...it is so nice to have your support through this...I called this morning at 5:30 to check on him and they told me that he is being so sweet, but, he has not eaten anything at all and has not urinated yet. They are giving him nutrical, but so far no interest in eating.

I cant talk to the doctor until 9 am..so i dont know what to think..i am worried but i know that he is in the best place. Please keep him in your prayers, i do appreciate it..Thank you

Thanks for the update. I am sure he is most likely just homesick and scared and will be a little piggy once he is home with mummy. Hopefully you get to bring him home today.

I just spoke to Olivers surgeon..the good news is he is peeing! yay

and he is picking at his food a bit. I am so happy about it! The doctor says when picked up he is standing on his legs which he feels is real good for having just had the surgery yesterday. He has very restrictive bandages on to keep the swelling down and he wants them to remain on for another day, so he thinks it would be best for Oliver to stay another night.

I do want whats best for him so even though that saddens me i will get over it. I miss him terribly.. just wanted to let you all know...thank you!

and read he's came threw surgery great and starting to eat.
You did a wonderful thing for your Oliver giving him a second chance
on life so he can run and play again without pain.

Great news on the peeing and picking at his food. One day will go fast and you will have the little cutie home to spoil in no time.
