Thank you for your continued prayers. Michelle has had a very rough week in the hospital. We have been really worried that she would have to have surgery for the abscess on her colon and in her abdomen. The antibiotics had not been working but today we are finally seeing some improvement. She is definitely not out of the woods yet. She finally got to eat a couple tiny bites of food this morning. Michelle went 5 days with no food or water. They had let her sip on a little ice a couple of times and two days ago she started getting a little broth. Michelle has a pic line in her so they have been giving her fluids through the iv. The doctors are really puzzled about what is going on and they have been very reluctant to do surgery because of the shunt. Part of the abscess is surrounding the shunt line. Michelle's head is about the same. Her head doctor said he will look at making more adjustment after she is over her stomach problem. I am just praying she will continue to improve. Michelle's stomach problem has been going on for months so I am concerned that when she starts eating again it will get worse again. She has been enduring horrible pain through all this, my heart breaks for her. Everyone's continuing prayers are greatly appreciated.

I was hoping to post when we knew something or had good news but things are still not good for Michelle. She is still in the hospital and still very sick. The abscess was in her small intestine and surrounding area and it had seemed to be clearing up but Michelle still cannot eat hardly anything without getting very sick. Now her white cell count is getting high again and the doctors have no idea what is wrong. They did a upper GI a few days ago and it showed nothing. Today they did a ultra-sound on her abdomen. We just pray the doctors will figure out what is going on. Michelle's abdomen continues to be swollen and sore. Michelle's head is the same. The fluid buildup in her head comes and goes but it is not causing too much pain. Michelle is so depressed because of her condition and not being able to eat. She just wants to get well so she can go home. Thank you all for your continued prayers. I hope we have some good news to report soon.

Thank God, we finally have some answers. The last ct scan revealed a large abscess where the shunt line empties into the abdominal cavity. This is the exact same place the abscess was 4 weeks ago and the doctors had thought it had gone away. For whatever reason the doctors missed it on the previous ct scan. Michelle has suffered unbelievable pain for 4 weeks and the last two weeks the doctors acted like it was all in her head. Michelle has been so depressed and had almost given up hope. The doctor was so apologetic this morning for missing the problem. Sometime today they are going to draw out some of the fluid in the abscess to relieve some of the pressure and then the doctors have to decide what to do next. It looks like Michelle might require another surgery but we don't know for sure yet. I just pray that the doctors will get this problem resolved quickly so my baby does not have to continue suffering. She has not been able to eat or drink hardly anything in over a month now. Thank you all for your continued prayers.

Please pray for Michelle. I just spoke with Michelle and she the doctors decided they are going to do major head surgery on her. They will open the back of her skull again and hopefully repair the leak in her lining. The shunt line will be removed from her abdominal cavity and the shunt will drain the excess fluid outside of her head in a bag. They will also remove the excess fluid in the abscess in her abdomen. The doctor told Michelle she will be in intensive care about a week and they will have to monitor her closely. He told her it will be very painful but they will do all they can to keep her comfortable. I pray all of this works. Michelle has suffered too long and I think the doctors are finally realizing the only way Michelle can have a normal life is for them to repair the leak in her head. Thank you so much for your prayers. I will post in the morning as soon as I hear from David that she is in surgery.

Dear Lord, this poor girl has been down a hard road full of so many struggles and pain. I pray that this will be the final surgery and she comes thru with flying colors. As a mother, it is heartbreaking to hear of our children suffering. I pray that God gives you and your family continued strength. Love Carol and Jemma
