LiveDeal Ad, Arizona I'm new to the forum and looking for some advice. Girlfriend is currently looking for a yorkie. Her friend purchased an 8 week old male yorkie from a lady in Chandler last week. Anyway, her friend said the puppy had vet documentation and seemed healthy and energetic. Overall, her friend is very happy with her yorkie. From what I've read, anyone who sells a puppy less than 12 weeks old probably doesn't have the best interest of the dog in mind. Shouldn't puppies be with their parents for at least 12 weeks? Also, not having the parents available to view is a little suspect to me, also. I called her and inquired about the parents of the pups. She said she was selling the pups for a friend. She is asking $850. Cost is better than a puppy store which I refuse to buy from. Anyhow, we made an appointment this Sunday to view the pup. Any suggestions and help would be much appreciated. Thanks for you time!

Thanks Txgurl06! I definitely will expect health guarantee in writing. If anyone can give me references for any breeders in Phoenix, that would be great.

Don't get one under 12 weeks and only from a reputable breeder, not a back yard breeder. Remember the saying.......you get what you pay for?......this is so true. Also make sure they had the bile acid test done on the puppy and Vet. records to prove it. Also ask them for the name and number of their Vet. so you can check on their background. Look at the AKC page on the net. and find Yorkie breeders. These are people who show these dogs and are very paticular on their breeding practice.

Thanks for all the replies and advice. We did buy the yorkie after speaking with the actual breeders/owners. They had a lot of knowledge and I received a written health gurantee. The vet checked him out Friday and he is doing well. I received replies from 2 breeders off the AKC.org, breeder referral list. Both also had new litters. They were asking for more money and we were tempted to wait and save more money, but we couldn't pass up on the price and how nice the breeder was on the phone. Thanks again everyone!
