I do believe many believe no white is better and that is okay. That is just an example......many other things can be commented on. But to say hurtful things is not appropriate. Many times it is better just not to comment. Most certainly if you are not in the market. There is nothing to gain from insulting someone or being unkind. If without a doubt you know someone is dishonest then it should be brought to others attention. But just to negatively comment to comment can really affect someone, its just plain mean. Your comment is typed and over usually but it may effect them the whole day or longer.......... they are wondering why? and feeling attacked. I have been there, I think almost every member probably has at one time or another. I have seen it alot of times on for sales threads........the very few times I have posted in the years, I was a target a couple times. SOmetimes I think it might be best to close a thread to comments in that section, except to administration, in case someone forgets a pic or doesnt put all the info or something.

I might have a suggestion If someone is worried about something, then why not start a what if thread, just like everything else on here. Let's say you don't think someones pups are purebreed, instead of a link and a name say I saw a site and this is what the pups looked like, can any one explain how you would know? I hate to say this but there are lots of things that people don't know about yorkies and they come to this site like I did years ago looking for friendly suggestions... if someone can't bring up a conversation thats contraversial then what is this site for. I did research, but you know I learned more on this site when I started looking then I did in any of the yorkie books I found at the pet store. If someone doesn't get something like hmm... those puppies are from Africa (which should trigger scam)... and I've heard numerous people on here say they fell for it, how would other people learn? I like to share my mistakes!

Mary, I am not a show breeder. But I am a person who loves yorkies and loves to learn. I would venture to say your puppies have beautiful coats as adults. Do you have a picture of one of your puppies? It sure would be fun to see one. It would be even more fun to see that same puppy at adult age! White in the brown of a coat of a traditional yorkie is a good trait.......but this is only my humble opinion.

This thread has turned into a "is white okay" thread. I should have been more specific, a lot of white, a strange shaped head, low set floppy ears in my hypothetical situation. I want to clarify, I think white is just fine. In my new litter I have one boy with a white spot on his chest and white on the very tips of his back feet.

Lacy, I know it isnt about white colorings. Is it a thread about being nice to others? Last edited by luvdorkyyorkies; 08-18-2006 at 04:51 PM.

In the incident that prompted this thread, there were some people (including me) who thought the pups looked overpriced for their quality (and imo that was an issue even completely APART from the white on the chest). It got blown up into a huge thing, there was a reprimend from a mod, and many members sd. that unless you were actually interested in buying a pup, you should never comment on a "for sale" thread. I was sort of taken aback, b/c I KNEW that I had seen PLENTY of threads before where people had raised questions and concerns about dogs being offered for sale. I didn't know if rules had changed, or what. Well, the NEXT DAY someone (not a "preferred" long-term member, apparently) posted pups for sale. Now, the breeder didn't appear to be shady, and linked to her website, which looked and sounded great, and her dogs were GORGEOUS and obviously wellbred. BUT....on THIS thread some of the SAME members who had been so upset about negative comments on the OTHER thread now apparently DID think it was appropriate to post a (legitimate!) concern about the size of the dam. So, why the double-standard? I'm honestly asking here, not just trying to stir the pot. I don't think anyone spoke out rudely or inappropriately in the second thread that I mentioned, and the concern was legitimate....but I also thought a legitimate concern was expressed in the first example. I suppose I'm just not "getting" the preferential treatment thing. Just because someone is a longterm member here doesn't mean that they have a quality breeding program, or are honest, or etc etc. And I think that if a person is so inclined, they should be able to point that out....regardless of how many post counts are under ANYONE'S name. JMO

| I read the things she wrote before they were deleted. Yes, they could have been phrased in a nicer way, but they were no worse than what I've read before....so I was shocked that she got banned over it.
