Removing of 'certain posts'??

I do apologize for asking my question in your thread but I felt it was somewhat related and was simply trying to make it easier on admin by putting both concerns in one place.

I felt it was unfair that Luckierdog never got yo read the negative things that so many posted about her because she was offline. It is almost a legal issue in my mind and she should have a right to see and read what others posted since it was "published" to the outside world and so many did read it.

Well it's not a crime for crying out loud. It's just a pet peeve and I thought I ask Admin...I could be wasting my time. But I wish more would start new threads insted of taking over (lack of a better term) others posts.

I think if we all tried to do stay on topic and start our own thread when neccessary (and we know that after we've posted). Maybe I'm the only one that thinks this will make a difference. That's why I wanted to ask Admin...next time I'll PM instead.

Hijacking a thread is something that we dont' allow on the forum that I run. Reason we don't - it allows newbies (and veterans too) the ability to find information faster! They know by the title of the thread if they want to go into that thread and read it or not. They dont' have to waste their time going and reading every single word to know that they haven't missed something.

I notice here on YT that I seem to miss things by not reading every single thread there is. Reason I say that is because I see things pop up in people's signatures that say to me that something has obviously happened in a thread that I haven't read somewhere. Thing is I have read most everything so it must have been one of those hijacked threads. Heck if I know. Leaves me so very confused.

Off-topic posts could be cut down on around here. I'd love to get my hands on this forum and start deleting some of them or moving them to their own threads. Organization is key to a well run forum. Or so it is my opinion that it is.

Hey Admin....I'd love to give you a hand - if you need any - only on the technical side of things. Let me know!

Thank you! That would be even better. I just wanted to try to keep my posts organized I guess. That's why I started this thread.

I thought it was just me..but being an admin of another forum that enforces it, there obviously is more reason that a pet peeves. Hmmm..interesting and I hope Admin considers your offer.

I agree that "hurtful" threads should be deleted.

If by controversial you mean that not everyone agrees then there is absoulutely nothing wrong with controversial threads imo and they should be allowed to stay and stay open so that ALL points of view are represented. If you allowed only one opinion and everyone had to agree otherwise the thread would be closed and/or deleted, then we wouldn't learn a thing and we may as well not have discussions.

The threads are sometimes MADE controversial when they really aren't just for the purpose of disagreeing with someone a member or a group of members does not like for whatever reason. This is what I dislike the most. It happens constantly and then the fact that the thread is closed is even blamed on the person who was the object of the so called controversial post when the reason it is usually closed is because the ones who disagree for no real reason break the rules, get disrespectful, snide and rude and admin has no choice in order to keep peace on the forum. It is such a shame when this happens imo.

I agree, except for when its apparent that a member or members may be trolling and people respond to it. I don't think in general the members here are disrepectful or rude when someone has a different opinion than them.

I don't think we get many "trolls" here thank goodness and they are easy to spot...we have smart members here and they spot trolls very quickly and ignore them usually.

I think that "cliques" or groups of members who all think the same way and like to control a board are worse than trolls because they are large in number and can quickly take over a board and make life very hard for the admin and mods.

It's made up of many personalities.... and to say certain members are in control is a dis-service to ALL the other members out there.

Each POSTING member of this site contributes something...and yes... there are some people who ONLY want to debate (For example....that just happened to me in this thread back on post #11)

but it doesn't change the fact that there are MANY MANY good Threads that don't end up locked. The ratio of bad threads vs good is pretty obvious by all the new posts we see everyday. I think the Admin does a good job keeping the forum running smoothly.

the majority of people posting here are awesome ....and even though we may not agree with someone - we can still be friends....That's what makes this site so nice - we get to meet people from all over the world ...if it was all sweet and light 24/7 it wouldn't be nearly as interesting.

Well I'm 'some people' I guess buecause I used the term anal. However, I didn't say I want to control the site. I merely made a suggestion. Taking things out of context IMO is how problems start. Too many of us take the written word the 'wrong way' which can happen. BUT being on this forum we get to know eachother. Apparently my actions don't speak loud enough. I do not like conforntation or debating or gossip. I wish everyone would just get a long and be civil again another 'anal' statement..

I guess you didn't understand my post - I meant no offense to you Irene - after you confronted me back on page one....I was saying that's what is nice about this site - people move on. I know I did ....

I think I try very hard to be civil & get along....actually - I don't have to try - it comes easy because I think the people on this site ROCK.....I wouldn't have such a high post count if I didn't totally enjoy it here......and I think the same holds true for the vast majority of members.
