Say you have a hide-a-bee and you offer it with a value of $7.... I would request that from you, you'd send it to me and pay for shipping, get tracking and send me the tracking number within one week.

You would then have a $7 credit... say 2wks later Twalla posts a MD tshirt with a value of $7 and you wanted that you could use your credit you acquired from sending me something to request that from her. Twalla would pay for shipping and send you tracking information and then she would get a $7 credit.

I imagine members could build credits up... say you sent out 4 items and the total for all those would make up $20, you could request one item that was valued at $20 or you could use the credits in say a $12, $3 and $5 trades.

The idea is that it works on a honor system, so we basically have to trust each other and not fiddle the credits. Other members would probably keep track of peoples just to help out.

Now I've just wrote this I can see how people would try to take advantage of this... I'm not pointing the finger at anyone in particular but we all know we've had members turn into scammers on YT in the past.

I understand! That would get a little sketchy though if someone tried to value their item in at more than what it was honestly valued at though, right? I wonder what would happen if someone took pictures of just one side of a toy and the other side was all holey, then what would happen? I assume that's where suspending and everything would come into play.

Interesting! I have a question though, can I carry you in my pocket to explain everything to me in blonde terms? That would be wonderful .

It's not just you! I was utterly confused with the first page. Especially with the shipping. Don't feel bad!

I really like the one-on-one trading idea, and would be very interested in joining up!

IMO the credits seem really confusing and hard (not to mention a pain in the butt) to keep track of. The one-on-one seems a lot simpler than credits or tokens. This is JMHO though!

I see this thread as a "Think Tank" kind of thread - a way to throw out ideas and talk them through and find out what the majority of YTers would like to see. A lot of fantastic points and ideas have already been posted AND I hope that everyone sticks with the thread until it's all said and done and Admin and his team has made some decisions.

Personally, I would like to see some fun twists to the trading along the way. Maybe some brave souls would offer "surprise" "deals" for the different categories and people can use their credits to "buy" them. Since the only real $$ is the shipping costs and that is for the individual posting the item, not a lot is at stake. If you were to get a "surprise deal" and weren't happy with the items, then you could alway throw them back up for grabs.

The people who are offering really neat items at lower values will wind up with more "YT Bucks" to spend - so that would encourage YTers to be creative and use some stragety. There could be the "tease" threads that so many enjoy tp spice things up a bit.

You're welcome. Glad that made sense and I just hope that I read admin's "convoluted confusing" () version correctly.

I'd imagine that if someone did try to "glorify" their item to score more credits then that would be a breaking of the rules because it wouldn't be fair at all.

What's the weather like there? That determines the riding round in your pocket request.

I agree it is slightly confusing... but then on the other hand sometimes new things are confusing till we get used to them, the profile pages, you tube videos, etc, etc. I do personally think that the one on one is easier to understand and I can see why more people are drawn to that more.

The original GUGE had a bit of a "gifty" feel because when the person opened the box, they don't know what to expect from inside the box. It would be a random surprise. I liked that part of the GUGE concept.
While I understand that one-on-one trading would make things a lot simpler and a lot less work for the Admins, it seems more like an auction. It'll be all about bidding on an item like eBay.
I'm not putting this idea down, I just agree that it's different from the original concept. I like the token thing better than setting anything with monetary value. Either way, I hope it works out for the best.

While I agree that it can become like an auction, I highly doubt the bidding will ever exceed the actual value of the item(s) in question. There may be the few exceptions, but how many would "pay out" more than the retail value of something anyway? Also, this one-on-one deal doesn't necessarily mean that an OP must "sell" to the highest bidder. OP may just as well choose the lowest bidder or perhaps even someone who posts a tear-jerking or laughter inducing reason why s/he should be the one receiving the item(s). What's also good about this is that as the OP, you can see where the interested parties are located and factor that in also to determine whether or not you're comfortable with shipping that far. This will also open things up for people located internationally--not counting Canada --like those who are stationed/residing in Korea, Japan, Germany, and even the UK. Anywhere. They shall not be snubbed for being on the other side of the world. At least not by EVERY poster, I hope.

Personally, I'm not too comfortable with the "token" idea given that once "value" is tacked onto a deal, it gets messy. What do we do about someone who paid, say, $2 clearance on a smoochy lip compared to another who paid $20 in a different country, state, or maybe just a different season or a boutique store that really liked to rip people off? If it's "used" and you mark it down by 30%, does the $20 one then become $14 while half of the population of people viewing the thread notes that they've seen it around for $2, so there's no way the OP could have paid $20 for it? I don't know. And what about those who got goodies at great wholesale prices? I know, for instance, I saw a game being posted in the Garage Sale section asking for US$40 used. I had since then seen it sold at Toys R Us, albeit on a "sale until x date" for that price NEW and in Canadian Dollars (CA$40). And I'm pretty sure I can find it used for much less in various video game stores and even pawn shops or flea markets.

By doing the one-on-one without tokens, I believe the original intent on of the GUGE can still be possible! For those who really just want to give, only now, not just the "next person in line" gets the chance to grab up all of the "best" goodies assuming more than one handful of us have similar tastes and needs. For example, I can now put up 5 Monkey Daze bling bling and 5 Juicy original carriers and not be too worried that one self-serving little "hog" (for a lack of a better term ) will grab up all 5 or 10 of those items and just put in "whatever" to fill the box up again to pass along to the next guy. At least with this method, I might know better that 5 different people will receive my things and I may then also choose to just GIVE them away, heck with the diamond studded coat someone's offering or the lime green knit sweater I'll never use--I'll just give it to them for nothing in return! Heck, I can even just post up and say I have ONE carrier. I see 50 posts for it, and I then say, "Ah huh! I fooled you all! I actually have 10 to give away so the first 2, middle 2 and the last 6 posters/requester ALL get one! Hurray!"

Anyway, whatever gets decided upon, I hope it would be different enough from the GE that, for example, maybe we can skip posting "hint" type threads? I know some find that fun. And I've read it's not mandatory, but it's one of the many things that scare me away from participating in a GE. I would feel real guilty and horrible if I don't post a "hint" when everyone else is doing it and maybe my "SB" was hoping for it. I was warming up to the v.box idea being as the physical box wouldn't have worked for me for many reasons, but a one-on-one can be fun too as long as there's the power of choice and freedom to give to someone you know would appreciate it because it truly was something they wanted otherwise they shouldn't have requested for it!

I don't think there would be hint threads because all the items would be on display. I wouldn't let the hint threads keep you from the GE. They ARE completely optional, and no one figures out who their SB is from them, so there is no way your SB would be disappointed. They'd have no way of knowing if they were the subject of a hint thread of not.

I agree, I don't think that anyone is going to go above and beyond the value of a used item just to get it. (Unless it's Twalla and those smoochie lips of course ) People would also be more likely to get things they would like as opposed to just taking something for the sake of it.

This is a good point. I know I've said this several times over the past few days and I hate that it is a fact... but there are/have been members that can and will try to take advantage without a second thought - it's happened before and no doubt it will sadly happen again. I'm not trying to be negative by any means but in order for this to work effectively and fairly every angle HAS to be focused on and one of those is making it less easy for members to be scammed.

Well when you get your tree can I have your Sugar Daddy
