I think Gypsy & Me meant you can choose which type of editing program you wish to use, by going to user CP, and "Edit Options" at the bottom of the page is Miscellaneous Options, and several choices to choose from, "Basic" "standard" and enhanced, I think when I got my account back, it was set to the enhanced version. Here's a picture that shows what I mean.

Right now the main downfall for me is that I can't see the special wallpaper someone has chosen for the message board on their profile page, I'll switch this back to standard, and see if that fixes the problem. Or if this is something totally unrelated.

OK that's was the problem. If you choose the enhanced version, you can no longer see the wallpaper that people choose for just the message board on their profile pages. The message board uses the same wallpaper as the surrounding area, and in some cases would make it difficult to type on.

Picture one is how my profile, page message box looks to anyone that has "enhanced" editing. Picture 2 shows how my page would look to someone with either the basic or the standard editing.


I love looking at people's profile pages, so standard editing is probably best for me, but I can see where the enhanced would be useful in certain situations were you want to paste in a message and keep things typed as they originally were typed, with the same formatting, and this enhanced feature allows you to do that. Also, you can do some wild type of font.

Yeah, the only difference is the actual message board, that's why I thought this might be related. I tried changing my profile and putting no paper in the message box, or just a color, but it would still show up with the paper from the surrounding area.

the other thing I can do with basic is memorize the code for different smileys I use frequently -- I asked once if other people have done this - but then I seemed to be the only one -- but I know a lot of codes for the things that don't automatically show up over here to the right - I know and a few more - so I don't have to search thru the big list

My memory is too poor for that, I definitely need an upgrade. I think you could still do this with the enhanced feature. I'm not sure everything the enhanced will do, but you can still type the smiles, they just won't show up, until you actually "submit reply."

I couldn't log on between 2 and sometime in the early evening. I kept getting 'page cannot be displayed' and because I frequently have problems too, I thought it was my computer.

Wow... that's amazing and now I can see what I type on certain pages without using hide customization. What's the difference between standard and basic?

There are 3 different message editors on YT. There is a basic, standard and enhanced.

The basic doesn't have the formatting buttons, like font, bold, italics, etc, etc. It's esstentially just a text box.

The enhanced editor essentially works like a word processing program, highlighting a word and clicking the bold button will make the word bold in your editor.

I just want to add that if you do change the editing mode to "enhanced interface", the profile pages will show up differently than before. The message box will get its instructions through the "Primary Content Area" instead of the "Controls" area. The profile page won't really change; you will just see it differently than before, and this will affect how you see everyone's profile page, not just your own.

Thanks, Gypsy. I changed mine to standard and I have noticed a difference on some pages, especially the font size. I kept telling 4D to change hers to large so I could see what I'm typing. She had it set at large but because my setting was enhanced, it appeared small. Does that makes sense? I'm still half asleep!

Oh, I remember the big 4D's "fonts too small" debate. She did change it, and I noticed the difference. This does seem to clear up lots of questions I had regarding what I saw, and what other people saw. Since the enhanced version is what the newbie will automatically be getting, we should remember that when we help someone with the pages. Maybe, a note in your club (PPF) would help.
