| ![]() Kathy785, I love that book and it is so helpful. There is another one called "Evans Housetraining your dog" by Job Michael Evans. Its great and he shows how tethering pays off as I remember the monks do too.

| ![]() Wow, I am a little overwhelmed reading your posts. Sounds like you are totally consumed by your Pom, and I just hope that your Yorkie will be able to stand up to the standards you have set for him because of your Pom. Time flies by and I'm sure your breeder never meant to lie to you about his age. She did tell you he was not potty trained, which is more typical of Yorkies than not. If I understand correctly his teeth sound normal, and the extra teeth should be removed when you neuter him. Patience, Love and consistency is the key. Your Pom is trying to show dominance by humping your Yorkie's head. They will work it out by themselves in 2-3 weeks, if given opportunity. He may need wormed since he is so hungry. You also have another Dog there which if your Pom is showing dominance, he may think he has to hurry, although you feed them separately. Make play time fun, and always give lots of hugs and kisses. You will be amazed at how great he becomes, and you wouldn't be able to imagine life without him. I always tell my families that it will take about 2 weeks to settle in even if there isn't another dog. Warning however.. once you own a Yorkie.. you can't have just one ![]() I am looking forward to your posts of just how great this little guy is, how much you love him, and how much he loves you, and not so upset about what he isn't or what he is doing wrong!! I am attaching a picture of 2 Yorkies that I sold to a lady at separate times, who fought for 2 1/2 weeks when the 2nd one came. It will work out!! |

Hi hon thanks for asking, the dog is still displaying paranoid and unsocialized behavior as well as messing in his belly band. I have to crate him unfortunately, I hate doing this but I have no choice. My pom is definitely alpha over him and does not seem to like him too much. Real snarling and showing of teeth going on here. I have to let them play 10 to 20 mins then separate them. Dont want a dead dog on my hands. About how long does it take for them to get close, if that will ever happen?

Thanks fo rthis nice post. yes, patience and yes, I am obsessed with my Pom, I really am. I dont expect the yorkie to be like my Pom, but my Pom is here first and I do have to try to figure out how to share my love equally. Remember, this is the first time I have two babes to care and love. So give me a little time. I am glad to hear it takes two weeks, I guess I was expecting instant miracles as my Pom was really super easy to house break and only had very very few accidents. Plus he came to me as a wee baby this one is much older and has some very bad habits obviously from the breeder. What is the very longest I can crate him per any given time? Like I have to run errands now and go to the doc which will be like 3 to 4 hours. Is this in humane?

| ![]() Take him OUTSIDE to potty train him every chance you get and PRAISE everytime he goes outside. 3-4 hours isn't too long to crate but you should work up to that..little by little.. The longest I crate is 4 hours. Good luck.. Patience.. ![]()

... well it is most certainly NOT the dogs fault that he is not Pottytrained at all and you should not be mean to him. He does not know it any different. The Owner is to blade for this and not him .... Since he is that old already this will be hard to train to ..... ![]() Just try to have pations with him cause if you don't things will only get worse.

btw, I think you're doing great returning here for advice and encouragement - despite some of the harsher posts. It shows you do care for this pup and want to make it work. Just remember the rule of being 'owned' by a Yorkie: patience, Patience and PATIENCE. Then, when your patience reserve is all dried up, reach down further and pull up some more! Soon, you'll look back on this time as just a bump in the road. Earning the love/trust of one of these li'l guys is a lifelong reward. You won't be sorry ![]()

| ![]() Hi, I don't have any advice for the potty issues because I'm still doing it myself at 10 months old....but I came across his interesting article on bringing a new dog into the house.....I hope it give you some insight to how the dogs interact, it did me....... http://www.petpublishing.com/dogken/...s/topdog.shtml

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | ![]() I was just checking in to see how you are getting along with your new baby? I have 3 yorkies, my 1st one is Lillie and I got her as a puppy. My 2nd one is Baby and I adopted her at 4.5 yrs old. My 3rd is Rocky and I adopted him at 9 months old. Lillie and Baby, it took about 1 week for them to adjust to each other and it was no time for Rocky to fit in. I think you just have to give it sometime. But you can't be standoffish to your yorkie, you have to hug and cuddle with him, he needs your love right now. I know you love your pom, but you have to be able to love both of them at the same time! When I sit down, I have 3 yorkies on my lap all at the same time. I give them all my love at the same time! I would also take him out to potty every chance you get and when he goes outside, it's party time! Praise him up and down and let him know you are so proud of him! He is such a cutie, you are very lucky! |

he goes out every hour, but even after going out he will come in and do it about 15 minutes later. This seems a bit strange to me. Even when I had my ´baby Pom at 11 he was not going that often, he was like 30 mins, then he worke dup to an hour and so no. Then he finally can hold 4 to 7 day light hours while not confined, now even my pom is going more than every hour. I stuffed toilet paper inthe sock bally band I made and they are still somehow managing to spray thru the belly band. ![]()
