| Worried about Rocco I just got back from the vets office, Rocco started throwing up,first his food then white foamy stuff. About 8 times in 30 minutes.I took him to the vet and she checked him over .His temp was normal, his heart and lungs sounded good. Tummy wasn't hard, she said he might just have a upset tummy and too watch him closely and if it doesn't improve shortly bring him back in. She wasn't the vet I normallly see, so I"m not really familiar with her skills. He came home and drank so water and throw it up. He is resting right now. I wonder what could be wrong,he seemed fine all day until this. Should I give him some pedilyte? Pepto? I ask about the pepto she just said it depends on the sitiuation. I get so upset when I go back their it brings back alot of emotions from losing Shadow. The few times I have been back their it get emotional for me still. I;m going to go sit with him now. Any advice would be appericated.Thanks. Could it have been the bully stick I gave him a couple of days ago? He never had one bvefore then.He does have colitis. |

| I'd try the Pepto to coat his stomach.

| Ahhhh, Debi...I'm sorry to hear about Rocco not feeling so well. Poor little sweetheart. I am thinking maybe you should try some pepto bismol or pepcid. I think it was 1/4 pepcid tablet I give Maddie when needed. Do you think he may have eaten something out in the yard that is causing this problem? I notice that Maddie has more problems in the summer than in the winter when there's snow to cover all the stuff she thinks of tasting. I hope whatever it is, it goes away soon. It's such a worry when they are sick. Big hugs to you. I'm sorry that you had to deal with sadness of remembering Shadow when you were at the vet today. Maddie, Libby and I send get well wishes to Rocco and I'll say a prayer! Keep us updated!

| Thanks you guys. I went to the store and got some pedialyte,he has kept the water down the last few times he drank and he is sleeping now. As far as getting something in the yard,I caught him eating a plant this morning.I never seen any in his vomit though. There was a bit of blood the lastime he vomited, he has done that in the past due to his colitis. I'm watching him close and will run him back in if I think I need to. |

| I'm so glad to hear he seems a little better. Did you give him pepto bismol or pepcid? Poor baby. If you saw some blood in his vomit, that would be from his tummy and not his colon. I bet that plant he chewed on started this illness. Hugs to you and get well wishes to little Rocco! Hope to hear soon that he's doing great!

| Well when he had the bout of it in Texas he had flecks of blood in his vomit and the vet said it was colitis brought on y the stress of the trip. If it affects only the colon then I wonder why they vomit at all then. Ok maybe from this...Bleeding can also be caused by eating the wrong foods. Pets that raid the trash or root around in the compost pile may suffer from food poisoning and get miserably nauseated. Their retching can break blood vessels in the esophagus, the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach. This isn't a serious problem, but it will cause the vomit to look a little bloody. One of the most serious -- and all-too- Last edited by Shadow; 09-06-2007 at 06:23 AM. |

No Longer a Member | Poor Rocco I hope he feels better soon. Ditto on the pepto. I give it to Chloe whenever she has diarrhea or vomits and it helps. It is non-systemic, so it is okay to give them. She is 5.5lbs and I give her 0.8ml. She hates the taste too, though; can't say I blame her either. |

Number two: Definitely find out why he is vomiting. If it is colitis, he will need more than Pepto. Good luck. Warmly, Deborah
