Hey everyone, thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers, and your concern.

Tatum has Coccidia :cry: I took the sample in to the vet and he tested it and said that he did indeed find Coccidia, and that she has TONS of bacteria in her as well :cry: He gave her a shot of Albon Oral-Suspension (which has a steroid in it) as well as a wormer pill (Panacur) just to be on the safe side (although he said that he did not see any signs of them, thank GOD, because that just grosses me out) and he also put her on Amoxi Drops which I have to give her every 12 hours, after meals. She is also on Pro-Pectalin which she has to be given 3 times a day :(

My poor baby :cry: I just feel so AWFUL for her!!! :(

AWE! Poor baby!!!! If it makes you feel any better, both Hootie AND my lab, Lamar, both had coccidia as puppies. It clears up super fast after you get them on meds! Sending Tatum get well wishes! Thank GOD it's nothing more serious!

actually - that's good news - she'll get better fast with the meds for the coccidia but don't know how long the bacteria will take to clear up poor baby.....She'll be ok and don't stress too much - she'll feel it :( ... Glad it was nothing more serious. I bet you see a huge improvement in less than 48 hours

Oh Brooke I know how you must be feeling as Tiger had Coccidia as well when he was young . . . just know she will overcome it as everyone does :thumbup: . . and because you are a stay at home mom you can keep an eye on your little angel. I'm just seeing this and I'm so sorry for little Tatum! I'm glad she's on medicine that will make her all better. Big Hugs to both of you. I know how stressful it is when our little ones are sick :(

awww....huge hugs to baby Tatum. Glad to hear she's going to be good as new and it wasn't anything more serious.

Relax tonight Mom....last night must have been so stressful for you! I order an early dinner, with a BIG glass of wine, "jamies" on before 8 and then snuggle those babies all night long!

Coccidia isn't so bad, thank god its only that. She should start to feel better soon with the meds and the coccidia will clear up. i know this is killing you, but it will be over soon Brooke. give some hugs to tatum for me!

Brooke - it sounds like things are starting to look up for both you and Tatum. I am so glad that you were dealing with a simple fixable problem. The next several days will be hard -- sending hugs to you both.

Poor Tatum! We hope she feels better soon!

You were a very good mommy getting her Kaopectate so quickly and getting on here for answers. Tate is really lucky to have you! Let us know how she's doing-Emma and Milli send their puppy kisses to Tatum to help her get well soon.

Sorry Tatum doesn't feel well, but I am so glad that out of all the things it could have been, it was something easily treatable. I am sure she will be feeling so much better as soon as those meds kick in!

I agree with yorkiemalt, now you need to relax! Last night was rough!

Brooke -- I feel so bad that little miss tatum is sick, but am so happy for you and her that it is only this and will start to clear up!

awww poor Tatum. But, at least you got her to the vet right away and she's on meds now. From what I've heard about coccidia, it clears up fast once they are on meds.

I hope Tatum feels better really soon! You're both in my thoughts and prayers!

I hope Tatum feels better soon. And I'm with everyone else about this being "good" news. At least with meds this will clear up. It could be worse. I know that's hard to hear when they are suffering, but with all the YTers praying for her, she will be back to her old self in no time! Kisses from Baby and me! :p

Aw mommy ... at least she has medicine to make her ALL better.

I know how hard it is to sit by when they are so clearly miserable, but really, all those meds should put her right. So glad it is something that can be treated and ideally cleared up pretty easily.

Brooke, I feel so sorry for Little Cutie Face Tatum....I'm so glad you took her. She'll get to feeling better soon. I don't know much about this...can Stedman catch it too?

I am glad to hear that it was nothing too serious. You will see that in no time, she will be better. Try to sleep and take good care of your baby.

Did they give you anything for your Stedman? Usually they will treat everyone in the household since they can catch it pretty easy....if it was me I would call them up tomorrow and ask if you should give him anything too. Good thing you were watching out for her!!
I think this thread is wonderful and really shows what to watch for. I have heard that coccidea is getting worse as the winters are getting less everywhere and isn't killing it off. So it's great that people are aware of it and although the photos isn't the nicest - it is a classic sign! :thumbup:

It comes from fecals....a nice walk in the park and a little on the paw - lick it later and you've got it. Outside for a potty break and a bird flys over and leaves a deposit behind..walk through it or plain eat it you can get it. It is very common and very easy to get.
