Yes...that really does make alot of sense about them not having anything left to poop out, so they just poop out the bloody stuff - because she has been having the runny stools quite a bit. And I think she is just so worn out too because she has been sleeping alot today....my poor baby :(

But you are right...the worse case scenarios have definitely flashed through my mind :( But then again they ALWAYS do when any of my babies are sick as I just worry about them so much :(

Tatum's breeder is just SO WONDERFUL. She is so caring and is so helpful. I got Tatum almost 6 months ago and she is STILL ALWAYS there to help...whenever I need her. Even calls me sometimes to check on her or just to talk. She is such a sweetheart and I am SO thankful to have found her.

I will make a post tomorrow and let everyone know what we find out! Thank you so much!

Thank you so much :) I figured that most people would think I was just nuts for taking pictures like that....but I just didn't know what else to do and thought that I had better get some pics taken before I put it in a baggy to take to the vet :(

Oh my gosh! I also hear the GURGLE around with Tatum's stomach!! And it is SOOOO LOUD. I am going to mention ALL of this to my vet. I'm sure he will need a vacation by the time I leave his office! :eek:

Yep looks like Giardia or Coccidea for sure. At this point it's a little hard to tell since there isn't any poo to look at. Don't worry too much at this point...just make sure you take in a sample tomorrow and get both looked for. Be specific too as they are both a little hard to find and have to be looked for. I would ask for a snap test for the Giardia. It costs a little more, but it's alot more reliable than a floatation test for the Giardia. Make sure she is eating though and give nutrical if you have it!! If it's coccidea you won't want to stop the poo as that's how they get it out.

She will definitely be seeing the vet! I am just scared that if I give her too much cottage cheese she will have even MORE diarhea :(

Peppy went through a bout of bloody diarreah about 3 weeks ago. We made a n emerbency visit to our regular vet -- lots of tests and blood work - all normal. Final diagnosis -- gastro-instestinal upset. They rested his tummy for 48 hours -- no food or water by mouth so he was on a periodic IV.

Peppy went from being perfectly OK to dripping fresh red blood from his rectum within a matter of a couple of hours and through it all he never acted like he felt bad.....

Thanks so much girl....I really am so scared :( I am going to do every single thing that my breeder recommended and just keep praying for her :( I just cannot wait to get her seen by the vet so that he can tell me what the heck is going on, and so that she can get put on some meds to help her :(

I will let you know how everything goes!

not to make light of anything anyone's said........but one of my old dogs used to get that when he had a loose stomach......the vet said it was from him pushing and straining.......I'd take Lil Tatum to the vet to be sure but I think she will be just fine

Oh girl - I swear to you I thought the exact same thing at first. That is EXACTLY what came to mind...I knew though that I DIDN'T nick her, but I was still thinking that maybe somehow she was bleeding from that because I saw the blood from a distance. Then when I got closer, like you said and saw the mucous, I knew that-that wasn't what it was :(

Thank you so much for your compliments on her and I too hope that she is all better soon :( It seems like after she had the bloody poop incident, she is "down" more (sleeping every since it happened, etc.). I went over to her and pet her and she just opened her eyes so slowy and blinked just a tiny bit :( My poor baby girl!! :cry:

Don't really have anything to add, just wanted you to know I feel bad for Tate...hope she feels better real soon. I think the advice you got from your breeder is right on...follow it. Thoughts and prayers to you both!!!

Thank you! Will mention the snap test to my vet for sure - boy, I need to start making a list of everything so that I don't forget anything!

Also, I have been giving her Nutri-Cal just every 4 hours like her breeder recommended. I ALWAYS make sure I have that on hand because of her size :(

Oh my gosh Cindy, poor little Peppy :( You know, it could very well be something like that with Tate. I just have no idea right now...I wish I knew :( Everyone keeps mentioning Giardia and Coccidia, and when I read all of the WONDERFUL info that Breny posted, I started thinking that maybe she really does have one of the two. But honestly I just don't know at this point :(

I will keep everyone posted and thank you so much for sharing Peppy's story and posting the info about him. I really do appreciate it!

Yes you may be right I should have said a little cottage cheese mixed with the yogart. To much may make her worse. thanks for correcting me. When My Dewey does that He has just an upset system and I remove his food for a day and give him this mixture and he is fine.

Thank you so much. It just really does look like it could be a number of things at this point. She WILL be seeing the vet, that's for sure...and I will let you know how it all goes tomorrow and what her results are!

Several of my dogs have had bloody, mucosy poops. Both had colitis. Stress and sometimes for no reason at all they would get bouts of it. The vet gave me meds for it and when I heard their tummies gurgling I would start them on it. Maybe it is from the pain meds she's been on they can do a number on their tummies. I am sure your vet will fix her right up tomorrow. I know how you feel, Cali was sick every other week and then some the first 8 months I had her. Good luck and I will keep you both in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about your baby, I would be afraid as well. I am sure that when the vet sees her tomorrow morning he will know what it is and she will be fine. Prayers and thoughts going your way, please keep us posted!

Thank you so much...I feel so bad for my little sweetie pie as well - it just breaks my heart :cry: Am definitely following my breeders advice...in fact, I need to get my butt up and go grab that Kaeopectate! :eek:

Thanks so much girl! I really do need to try the boiled chicken and rice for her...or either the ground dry food and add a little of the chicken baby food like her breeder said...and come to think of it, I DO have some of the chicken baby food on hand from when she was sick the last time. BUT, I think for right now I should give her tiny little tummy a bit of a rest :( I am just so worried and want to keep her HYDRATED :cry:

Wow, it sounds like your babies and my Tatum had very simular situations! I really do hear her tummy gurgling SO loudly :( And with Cali too...it sounds so much like what I have been going through with Tatum - and she is a little over 8 months old :( Just constantly one thing after another.

Thank you so much for your care and concern, as well as your prayers...they mean SO MUCH to us :)

I would be scared if I saw that too! I hope poor Tatum is O.K. I have no idea what could be wrong, but it seems a lot of people here have some answers. I'll keep my fingers crossed for her that she's O.K
