OMG Dena, so does that mean you will get them back???? :)

Baby was coughing like crazy again, same time, 6-8AM. :-(

Zoie was coughing bad last night.. this morning she got up super happy and played and then coughed like crazy and crashed out for a bit.. thats the sign that she is getting worse.. when she plays hard, coughs, then crashes out.. means she is really sick. :(
Shes going to the vet monday though.. she will be ok until then

I'm not sure.. she said that they will take wookie and zoie, treat Zoie, find out whats wrong and give me a call to let me know whats going on.. She said I can decide right then or think about it, let her get treated and then when im ready to take them back I can.. I was soooo shocked she said that.

I told her I wasn't sure, since i worked 70 hrs a week and can barely afford anything these days... I really want Wookie and Zoie happy #1, but she said that i don't have to make any decisions right now, that i could think about it.. which is great!!!

Or if i wanted, I could possibly be like Wookie and Zoie's baby sitters :D :D :D :D

That's great they gave you that option. That way you know they will still be in your life! :-)

Girl, I just put her in the bathroom with HOT water running and I could barely breath in there myself. WoW. I have been putthing her in the shower when I and then when my husband take showers but this time I used really hot water. I went in and rubbed her throat too as you mentioned. So that should help huh? Well I hope she won't pass out on me as hot as it was in there.

Did Zoie have the cough when you bough him or did it develop afterwards?
Baby doesn't usually cough after playing. She coughs a little now and then during the day but the morning is when I get worried because it is so strong it prevents me from sleeping even.

Sounds like we might be in the same boat. I really don't see the point of X-ray after X-ray though. If they have it done once and see what it is, what the hell is the X-ray going to do 2 weeks later if the puppy sounds exactly the same? If there are improvments I understand but.... I don't know. I need a miracle doctor here. Is the valley fever you mentioned life threathing?

:-)

One thing that you should think about when you put her in the bathroom.. get down low on the ground and feel the area she is breathing, because it takes a very long time for her to feel the humidity way down there... So min of 15 mins in the bathroom before she starts to breath in that vapor.

I would sometimes put her with Wookie in there with food and toys, or i would sit on the ground with her.

I honestly didnt notice a difference, but i still did it.

Stop doing x-rays, i have heard over and over from these ladies i am talking to that 15 x-rays is the same as one. Don't take "i dont know, lets try this new medicine" as an asnwer.

Wookie did end up getting kennel cough from Zoie once, and I took him in and got him medicine and it was gone right away, and he hasn't gotten anything from her since.

Samantha I sent you a PM about the nebulizer :)

Yeah, no more X-rays. When the doctor said on Monday that he couldn't read the other doctor's X-rays I was just disapointed because that just felt like bull s**t to me.
I'm going to try this home treatment myself and see how that goes. I don't think there's so much more I can do...

I've been a little worried about my Pomeranian getting whatever she has. He was clavamox pills for a week but that's it...

Hi Samantha,
Daisy Mae06 pm'd me about you - and I pm'd you my info. Please feel free to call, email, or pm me. I'm very upset to hear about your Baby being so sick! I can't believe I'm just seeing this thread.

We really like this one vet at Rainbow Animal Hospital but she's almost ready to have her baby. (Mia was just there Saturday for her 15 month shots) You could try calling to talk to her. She is the best one we've found - and we're the kind that won't leave Mia at the groomers... we stand there the whole time she's being done!

Rainbow Animal Hospital - Dr Hines - lady Vet

I hope Baby is doing better today but please keep us posted!

Oh and I'm VERY interested in who these people are!

wemple2 07-11-2007 04:17 PM

You know Samantha, it may depend on what type of pneumonia Baby has, viral, bacterial or fungal...does she ever cough anything out that could be cultured? I would think that would give a vet the information they'd need to treat her properly, it would show what medication it is resistant to...and what it is susceptible to.
Sure wish Baby would get well...but if she's coughing, that may actually be a good sign, I know with people the doctors want them to cough to break up the mucus...not suppress it, because if you try to just stop the cough the mucus stays there...if she still has mucus, she still has an infection. The breathing treatments are meant to loosen the mucus, so she can cough it up and rid her body of the infection.
Please try to keep a positive attitude, she will get better, you've just got to continue to help her. Bless you and Baby...

I PM'd you. Thanks to DaisyMae06 I will give her breathing treatments at home soon and not take her back to the people I got her from again. I just hope that will make her better. She was kinda mellow today which is rare. I just dread going to bed because I know I will wake up at 6AM worried and feeling useless as I hear my little girl cough like crazy...

She doesn't cough anything up. It just sounds like she is gasping for air. I've been leaving her in the shower eveytime I take a shower and the same with my husband but as of today I started really letting it steam in the bathroom. Maybe that will help her as well. As soon as I get the nebulizer and the medicine I am going to start breathing treatments for at least 2 weeks along with the orbax AB she is taking. I hope all of this will cure her. I mean she's so little, I can't imagine her little body taking much more. I really wish the vets I've been too knew more. Maybe I'm asking for too much but I thought like with humans, they can diagnos and then have a cure for it but the vet pretty much said it looks like she has pneumonia. Nothing about stages or anything. I've been calling them leaving messages trying to figure out if it could possibly be "valley fever" as one of the girls here said is a possibility. No answer though. I'm learning a lot, that's for sure.
Another thing, the vet was trying to give me cough suppresant for her but I insisted that if it doesn't help her to get better I didnt want to give her medication. He suggested the cough suppresent so I could get a better sleep and now I read that the best thing for the puppy is to cough it up. Wow, now I really loose faith in vets. lol. I'm glad I followed my insticts and was stubborn about it because they actually told me they thought I was being paranoid and that nothing was wrong with the puppy at first....
I'm going to try to be positive....I just freak out easily and get scared that she'll stop breathing when I hear her cough. I just close my eyes and tell my husband to check on her since I get so scared that she might be in pain. Wow, I probably shouldn't have kids. I'd really freak out. :-)
