| Unfortunately I think that there is more to it from the description she gave on his behavior. Hopefully not.

| I already sent this on to Diggy4 We just got back from dropping Cody off at the animal hospital that adopted him out to us (they are also a rescue). His stomach was becoming more and more distended and the only thing we could figure is that even though he was still eating protein, the medications he was on was giving him energy. He was still getting shakier and shakier (probably from the protein) No, a BAT has not been done, it's just that with the symptoms he was having and with the enzymes, the animal hospital was very convinced it was his liver. They have blocked off a time for surgery tomorrow if it does turn out to be an operable liver shunt and will update us tomorrow on whether or not they operated. I know it might seem kind of weird to have jumped to all of this without test results but the symptoms were so clear. I'll let you all know how Cody is tomorrow... I'm just glad he's getting help because last night with the way he looked, we didn't think he'd be alive this morning |

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | My stomach feels so empty right now....I pray Cody is comfortable and whatever it is he has and is going thru is VERY short lived. I realize, what was meant to be will be.....but that doesnt mean it's easy. Thanks you for letting us know what is going on with Cody. You have my name and Number....all I can say is I'm sorry and I'm here.

| Thank you for this update!! We were all thinking about him. I pray that they find the shunt. Is the vet a board certified surgeon? And does he have a lot of experience with liver shunts? I will be praying for Cody!!

| I know that he studied at MSU to learn the procedure and has done 3 (I know- that's not many but I have a good feeling about it) and all 3 were successes. we really feel like we abandoned him though... leaving him in a cold hospital all alone... the fact that we may never see him again because we weren't able to care for him really hurts |

| When I got Honey she was only 1.4 lbs and the first 2 weeks she did great and ate her hard dog food one morning I went in to get her and she had lost all of her balance and her bed was messed up I immediately gave her some karo syrup, she came around but this went on for a couple of days and when I got her check he said she had a parasite 'giardia" that was making her have diarhea and keeping her blood sugar out of wack, she was put on an antibotic and I kept karo in her water and had to syringe feed her for 2 weeks, then after we got off the antibotic I gave her nutr-cal once a day for a week now she is great, I haven't had to give her anything except love for the past 3 weeks. They were scared hers might be a shunt at first, but thank goodness it was only the parasite and they can come in contact with it anywhere and make them real sick if not taken care of. Good luck with your baby I hope this helped.

| Do you know when the surgery was scheduled for? I'm thinking that they are doing a liver biopsy.
