| i dont know. i really dont know much about this. i have been trying to do my research. I just know her stool looked yesterday. we then took her to the vet. he quickly chekced her-looked in her eyes, weight, temp, and then he dewormed her cuz she hadn't been. So is this why she is now pooping out the worms?

| Well, I would call the Vet today. If he is not available at the moment, leave a message for him to call you back. They usually make their calls in the PM. Tell the Vet about all the worms that can out. Ask if this is normal? Ask if they will continue to come out? Tell him you want to know everything about what is happening and what you should do. As far as the food, what food are you feeding now? What food do you want to start to feed? |

| ok. yeah Tim is planning on calling on his way to work right now. Im also thinking about calling my mother in laws vet though.. she used to go to the guy we went to before but no longer does. i am really unhappy with how we was yesterday.. he was so quick, brief, and didnt even look at her stool thoroughly. We are going to call him and also i need to go get her shots this weekend.. (they said any shots before 8 weeks are not accounted for because they are too young and dont affect them anymore?) so i need to get those done as well. I am just worried cuz she was kinda coughing a couple times last night.. i dont want something further to be wrong or the worms to be too much.. cuz she is just so little ya know?? sorry if i am going on and on i just want to get any advice from people who know what they are talking about and actually care!! so thanks for your replies!! But i was thinking about calling the other vet(new) and setting up a more thorough exam/check-up and let her know what has been going on.. just ot get a better piece of mind and to stop something completely before it gets worse. Oh and i was given IAMS wet puppy chicken and rice food which i have been giving her along with a little 'super-cal' she gave me. We have also been giving her little pieces of puppy treats that i have softened with water for when she goes "potty". But i have been told Eukanuba by a few people and that is what i bought-puppy small breed Eukanuba. I was planning on gradually giving that to her.. soften it with water and mix it with the wet while everyday using less and less wet food? but not sure when i should start this due to the worms?? -yuck. poor lil baby. i feel bad cuz i know she feels so gross alot of the time.

| Sounds like a plan - maybe a new Vet would be better. As far as the food, I am sorry to say, but both Iams and Euk. are extremley poor quality foods. Check out this site: www.dogfoodanalysis.com You want to go with a 5 or 4 star rated food. (6 stars have to much protein, not good for our little ones). Iams and Euk are both rated 1 star My rule is: NO CORN (in any form of text) and NO By-PRODUCTS (in any form of text). Personally, I am feeding a Raw Frozen Diet - but that's not for everyone. However, I do still leave a hard kibble down and my choice for that now is: www.canidae.com |

| also.. where we got the puppy was from a local lady whos yorkie had puppies. she is not a breeder but seemed to have done her research for raising the little newborn puppies from birth- she has the parents two very small yorkies.. and one other bigger (yet still small breed) of dog-not sure the kind. anyways.. she has 3 kids and has them and there friends in and out of the house. (my mother in law-when she purchased her australian shepard-1and a half years ago, said she had to take of her shoes off before entering where the puppies were or clean them with something special(something like that..) because they could be tracking in parvo. I know the kids and others were around the dogs and who knows what they brought in. She was kept with her brother and sister and always had food, water, comfort, and lots of love..just dont know what her small little body was exposed to without it being known to be a threat to them. When we came to pick her up she was outside on the grass with her mom(yorkie) saying bye and such.. which kinda weirded me out-rolling around in the grass next door?? (i just am putting everything out there on how we got her, etc.) The lady is really nice and i know has done her research and cares alot about the puppies, but does not know EVERYTHING(im sure) about raising the little puppies from birth. kids in and out, etc. Am i being too paranoid? better to be safe than sorry- i am just afraid of something happening to her all of a sudden-like i have heard happening to other tiny yorkie puppies before. Also.. Pet insurance-if you have it-about how much does it cost? im probably annoying you sorry. thanks again though. The food situation.. I know IAMS was kind of yuck. It definately would not have been my choice of food. but i didnt want to just stop using what she was used to.. so i was planning on changing her over and i was going to start today. I did hear the positive and the negative about the Eukanuba.. the poistive i heard was good though?? but i did just find out about the by-products.. and that is no good-grosses me out thinking about it. and i know corn isnt good for them. do you know where they sell the canidae?? (you like this?? and it is easy for them to chew/swallow??) AGAIN THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR INFO!! very nice.

| I am glad that you are explaining everything, maybe write it all down, so if symtoms start to appear, you and the Vet can figure it out. I agree with you about the kids, germ, and playing outsite before all shots and deworming But you have her now and you will take care of her. Back to food. I would never eat By-Products myself, ever! Therefore, I would never feed them to my kids (yorkies of course). Canidae is a small flat disc like hard kibble. Yes, it is easy to chew, she will have no problems. Go to the site and look up where it is in your location. It is also for all life stages, so it is good for pups and adult, no need to change foods. I think you will be very happy with Canidae and so will she |

I can also tell you about the vet I take my babies too. He is like an old-fashioned "small-town" Doctor; will always come to the phone when I call, has come out during Thanksgiving Dinner, one year, when my Yorkie was ill! Let me know what I can do to help; we are "neighbors" after all. Lauren | |

| Oops! One more thought. Your baby is VERY young, perhaps too young to be on dry kibble? Mango, at that age (she was still at the breeder), was on canned puppy food, mixed with a little Goat's milk and cottage cheese. The dry kibble was left on the side as a "snack", but not the main course. Also as far as treats go, there is a healthy "people" alternative recommended by my breeder, and that is Honey Nut Cheerios. I used only those as treats when I was potty training Mango. |

| Hi. I bought some Canidae dry food. and i have been softening it in water, then adding it to the IAMS food she is used to. I was gradually going to add more and more of the Candiae and remove the IAMS slowly. She seems to really like the new food.. she kinda looks for it and digs it out of the wet food. I also have been giving her little bits of the dry food (softened) as a treat after she goes "potty" as well. But mainly i have been giving her Nutro MAX puppy drumsticks and breaking them into much smaller pieces. but i heard about honey nut cheerios was good so i think i'll pick some up and use that. She has kind of been scratching alot and i think her skin might be kind of dry, also her eyes have been watery so i am assuming that both of these things are maybe from allergies. so i will see what the change in food does for her. Also she had a crazy night last night/this morning pooping very often(not runny or anything-solid, which is good) but we did trim all around her butt area.. and i think she may have been constipated. i just worry because she did get dewormed on thursday-and had roundworm in her stool. she hasn't been pooping them out today or really at all yesterday so i think the majority of the ones that had grown are out.. when we go back for another deworming in about a week and a half she will probably pass more. Is this all that needs to be done to take care of the worms?? or should i be giving her something else in between the first deworming and the next one?? THANKS.
