Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | No...he didn't, now I wish he would've. The infection is gone - but now the area where he scratched all the fur off (and scratched it raw) around his right eye is darker-skinned than the other skin around it. Isn't that odd? I wonder if I should take him in again. Grrrr I hate not knowing what is wrong with these little guys.

| I have the same problem with Zoe...the right eye. The vet told us it's her allergies, she rubbed her right eye raw, it was swollen, and she lost most of her lid hair on that eye. He says maybe it's b/c she still has her dew claws on the right paw and not the left. Gave us antibiotic drops and allergy meds and sent her home. She still continues to paw on the right eye, so wierd. |

He is still scratching w/ allergies (they both are), but his little eye is great. I'm sorry if this is all confusing! LOL.

ah i misunderstood then. glad to hear the eye isn't infected anymore. is he still scratching around the eye or has that stopped too? the dark pigment is a tough call for me to think of what it might be without seeing it.

| I used to work for a people dermatologist. Very often the darkening of the area happens for us too. I'm pretty sure that the pigment will lighten back up, but it could take a looong time. It's kind of like when we have a bad scratch or burn. Almost like scar tissue as it's a different color, but it should return to normal over the next 6-12 months, that is, if he didn't scratch it to the point of scarring. Wish I could be more help. Glad he's not scratching as much. There have been lots of dog baby allergies this year.
