| Brea update We went to the vet today and instead of LP, she thinks its Leggs Perthes. She took x-rays and is now sending them to a specialist to be sure. I should know early next week what the specialist says. If that's what it is, she will need surgery to remove the part of the bone that is affected. It's ironic cause it's almost like the surgery I just had on my shoulder. Come to think of it, when my other one was throwing up, I got that, too.... Weird. So, not very good news. I can't imagine how much it is going to cost and with me just getting back to work and trying to catch up.... Today alone was $190.00. She took four x-rays and only charged me for one and she charged me a little less for the exam. ($50.00 instead of $60.00 ) She had all the other vets look at the x-rays and at Brea. Everyone said Brea was such a sweetheart. I love this little girl so much.... By the way, she now weighs in at 3.7 lbs! |

| Aww, Bless her heart! She's lucky to have such a great mom, I'm sure you'll have her fixed in no time. Keep us updated, I know how worried you are- I'm thinking about both of you!

| Oh Teri I sure hope all is ok. Is she still acting strange after her vet visit? And that is kinda ironic the you and the dogs are getting the same thing. I Hope mine Don't get my shoulder pain. I will keep Brea in my Prayers..... BTW did I ever tell you thats my daughters name that her dad calls her? I just say Bre though. |

Thanks for your prayers... she is still limping/staying off her leg today. At least she isn't hiding and acting strange like last night. It's just so hard to picture her tiny little body undergoing that surgery. If anything happens to her, I don't know what I'll do. | |

| This condition is actually fairly common in Yorkies. My mother took in a rescue named Thor that had leggs perthe. His was so bad that he could not use that leg at all and only walked on three legs. He had the surgery and now runs around and jumps with the rest of them. You would never know that he had ever had anything wrong with him by looking at him now. The cost of the surgery varies greatly by vet. You can check around for the cost but I would take him to whomever you think will do the best job, most likely that will be a specialist. My advice would be to make sure that whoever does the surgery is very familiar with the condition and has performed many of these surgeries before on small dogs. I wish you all the best and I'm sure that everything will turn out great. This is Thor now on the left.

| No updates yet cause of the weekend. She's still running on 3 legs. I was talking on the phone with my brother today and told him she may need surgery. He was talking about how much it might cost and he said to "just put the dog down." He knows how much my dogs mean to me - I can't believe he would say that. But to him - a dog is a dog is a dog - just an animal - no big deal... I was already having an awful day and called him for support... bad idea today I guess. |
