| Please Help!!! Something is wrong with Lucy but I am not sure what. Last night at around 6 pm she started going number 2 in the house even though she was in and out into the yard every few minutes. Her stool started off pretty solid but as the night went on they got softer and softer and she also spit up some of her food. I picked up her food and just left the water down and gave her some nutrical and cuddled with her until it seemed like she was ready to go to bed. She wasn't real lethargic or anything so I wasn't too freaked out. I had her sleep in her cage last night, and just about a half hour ago I heard a type of gurgling noise so I woke up and looked in her cage and there was more food vomit, and a very runny diarrhea that looked like it had snot or something in it. My dad was the one that was with her all afternoon so I keep asking him and he says maybe she got ahold of something in the yard. I tried calling her vet but they aren't open yet. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED! Sarah

| I should also mention that she switched from IAMS small dog & toy dry food to IAMS dry mini chunks a few days ago, but her stool was fine then. Before the small dog &toy she was on Royal Canin and had no problems when I switched her a couple months ago.

| ok....until you can get ahold of the vet make sure she is drinking. if you have any pedialyte in the house or can get some that would be great bc we want to make sure she isnt dehydrated( and that can happen from the vomit and losse stool). is she drinking ok?? if not i would give her water/pedialyte through a syringe. is she potty trained yet?? or is she going in the house and in her cage bc she is so sick?? how is her activity level now?? i am praying for you, and waiting for your reply.....

| Thanks everyone. Lucy is doing better, her food is back down and she has been eating and drinking fine. I will be monitoring her all day and if it starts up again she will be going to the vets. Maybe you could recommend a food for the same price that doesn't test on animals? I have a hard time knowing what to get and Royal Canin was just getting too expensive for my budget right now, it was also making her a little chunky around her chest. Thanks Sarah

| Sarah, You probably already know this but I'll mention it. You talk about switching foods a couple times. Be careful when doing this as it can really upset a dogs system and cause runny stools and upset tummy. Generally, when you switch foods it should be dones gradualy. Like 1/2 of the old food with a little bit of the new mixed in and continue adding less of the old and more of the new until it is entirely switched over to all the new brand. You also don't want to keep changing too often. Find a good dog food and stick with it. Make sure its a good brand, its worth the extra money. I prefer Chicken Soup for the Puppy. glad you baby is feeling better, it is very scary I know. |

| Thanks, that is what I usually do, but I just looked at the ingredients in this stuff and there is a lot of corn meal and byproducts which she has never had in her food before. My mom picked this up at the store because they didn't have her usual kind and she was almost out. I need to do some research I guess on what is best and try to stick with that.

| I hope she is feeling better soon. I agree with the NO IAMS - IMO that's pure garbage! There are a lot of high quality options out there. Honetly they are only a few dollars more (so it's worth it) - Plus, how much can she possibly eat? I think you will be able to manage to cost of a better food. I have tried many different brands: Natural Balance Innova Buffalo Blue Merrick Chicken Soup But my favorite is Canidae (and Roxy and TJ really like it too!) |

| Where do I get Canidae? I'm glad Lucy is feeling better. Where can I get Canidae? I've heard so much about it and I'm gonna have to switch soon. I still have food left from the breeder when I got Holly, but I've looked for it and they don't have it anywhere. I do want to give her a quality food.

| Hopefully she continue to keep her food down and no runny stools. Poor babies just the slightest changes cause these babies tummy troubles. Sending healthy thoughts your way.

| Thanks everyone...I will definitely have to look into Canidae. She spit up some water tonight, which she does sometimes when she gets too excited, but that is all. She seems to be okay but I am still going to keep a watchful eye of her!
