| Maggie is still a little slow. She just isn't herself. I did get some nutri-cal. She licked it right up. I am thinking she is weak from so much throwing up. She wants to play and than just lays down. If she is still like this Monday it is off to the vets for her. She hasn't pooped today. Do you think that is normal after a night like she had?? |

| Maggie had a bad night. I got in touch with the Vet and they want to keep her off of food for 24 hours! Not even nutri-cal. She had diarrhea all night. The Vet seems to think it was something she ate and her body is getting rid of it. She seems a little better and I hate it that it is a holiday weekend. My regular Vet is gone. I just have this on call Vet. I am watching her close and keep her clean and dry. You just feel so bad when your babies are sick!! |

| You would think the vet would at least put her on a bland diet of boiled chicken and plain white rice...Maybe someone else on here has advice?? How's your baby doing tonight?

| Definetely put her on bland food. She needs food for energy as well as helping her immune system. As stated, boil chicken or hamburger mix with rice. You can pour a bit of chicken broth for taste. Try to slowly feed her this mixture. If not drinking water, get a syringe and squirt slowly in her mouth. Don't do too much at once. The frothy throw up is like humans. If we don't have anything on our stomach then we have dry heaves or a bile looking throw up. If she has any pink, don't freak, especially if it turns red. This is simply blood vessells from her straining to throw up. I just recently went through the same thing with 2 yorkies. Let her get plenty of rest and give her a small amount of pepto bismal to settle her tummy. She won't just take it so you'll have to use a syringe. Watch her gums, if they become sticky to the touch (dabbing) she is dehydrating. Make sure they are pink, any other color don't walk run to the vet. She might have simply ate something that did not agree with her and is making her sick and she is trying to get rid of it. As for the diahrrea the pepto should help. If not try to feed her some yogurt. Mine ate garlic chicken, the best we can figure. Plus my male threw up fur balls. Thank God they are both well now. Hope this helps and I'll put up prayers for the baby. Tinksmom |

| If she isn't allowed to eat, then I would think she should be on an I.V. with medication since she has been so sick. What the vet wants to accomplish is to rest her pancreas which is also stimulated by the smell of food cooking. If you simmered parsley in water, removed the parsley and gave it in some doses to keep her hydrated. Every vomit or poopy sessions has caused her to lose electrolytes rapidly. Good luck.

| Well, I think Maggie is finely on the mend. She was still having diarrhea still today but has been able to keep the imoduim down. She hasn't gone now since around noon. Today I started feeding her plain white rice. I was thinking of adding chicken broth to it but wanted to have her keep food down first. She had sure given us a scare and I thank everyone for the advice. It is so good to see her play a little. She is still getting tired really fast and sleeps a lot. Let's hope this is the end of it. |
