| Reaction to flea meds? I have a 6 month old, 3.5 pound Yorkie (Lily) and this morning I administered a flea and tick application. The package said for dogs 9-15lbs, so I only used a small amount. Lily has been acting strangely since then- very restless and antsy. She has been coughing/sneezing/snorting more than usual. I am not sure if this is normal behavior or a reaction to the meds! I am a first time Yorkie mom so I am hoping you guys can help us out! Thanks. -Denise and Lily- |

| What brand did you put on her? I use Advantage on mine (because it comes in the smallest dose) and they have never had any reaction at all. I use Frontling Plus on the cats and two of them do react to it -- but it's more like licking around their mouths as if they can taste it. My vet has warned me against ever using the Spot-On products. If it were me, I'd call my vet. |

| my zac has a reaction to frontline, the first time he didnt but the second time i used it he started to act funny, he had blisters come up on his tummy, was hot and was scared of something as he kept hideing under the bed and under the covers, i put him in the bath every day about 4 times and used shampoo and after about 5 days he was ok again but as yours is only a little one id say call the vet as there maybe something he can give to help. |

| If it wasnt vet quality, if you got it from a dept store or grocery store-they dont work & can make your pet very ill, even kill it. I hope you washed it off. Let us know. I use revolution it takes care of fleas & heartworms plus comes in a 5lb & under dose. http://www.deadfleaz.com I get it here -cheap. |

| Wash her right away. I don't know what you used, but depending on the brand, it can be very harmful and you need to get all traces of it off. My cat had a horrible reaction to a Spot-On flea medication (I still feel guilty about this. I can't believe I used that stuff). Not only did he go nuts. Running into walls, falling over. He developed sores and his hair began to fall out. He is a beautiful Maine Coon, gorgeous long hair, and it was devastating. Luckily, we put him in a bath as soon as he started acting weird, so we think that helped a little. We just had a hunch it was the medication, but it still did damage. Wash her and call a vet. Keep us updated too! I hope she is ok.

| You don't have to change a dogs body smell with chemicles that can actually kill it. There are too many all natural safe products that are effective at keeping fleas and ticks off. I'd wash that baby really good, and never put those harsh things on her again. I swear, between the dog foods made from diseased animals and all the chemicls and medications pumped on and in them, it's no wonder they are expireing in record numbers with severe health problems. |

| Be careful because I over did it with organic flea meds when my pup was much younger. She vomited and I realized brushing and bathing every week was the answer for me. My vet recommends Revolution though. Good luck and they are such so pesky and makes me cringe when I find them on their bodies.

| Hope your baby is feeling better. I used that stuff once on my cat and she had a twitching fit, so I quickly washed it off again. I won't use that stuff since that experience. We use Program. It's a pill you can give your pet recommended by the vet. You can buy it online so you don't need a prescription each time and the prices online are better. They make a pill for small dogs and cats. Also you can use that in conjunction with Capstar. Program basically prevents the flea eggs from hatching out, but if your pet has fleas already, then Capstar (which is safe enough to give to baby animals and can even be given more than once in a day) will get rid of the live fleas completely within a few hours. Stay away from that topical stuff. |

| update on lily I used SentryPro, bought it at Petco after talking to someone there who recomended it. I gave her a bath right away, the vet was closed but I called one a town away. They seemed to think she would be ok as long as she wasn't getting sick or had diarrhea. She was back to her old self within a few hours of a good bath. I think more of the problem might be that she is in the early stages of teething. Thanks for your advice! |
