| do you know whare your 24 hr emergency vet is ? Im asking this question because we have had 2 close calls and it was alot easier to deal with knowing what to do and where to go. First of all we all no that emergences can happen anytime and my 2 end one just so happened at 8 pm all vets were closed. but because we knew where the nearest 24 hr emergency vet was. I dont drive so my hubby had to take us he was actually very upset and crying saying that he loves spanky so much. I never really knew just how much till that night when i had to be the calm one holding my little baby with a husband out of his mind with worry, and the traffic bad hubby speeding down the side streets.was a nightmare anyway spanky turned out to be ok ($750.00 er room bill). and i always keep the er number handy heaven forbid it ever happens again. |

| This is a great thread! I'm not sure we have a 24 hour clinic around here but I do have my Vets cell phone number and he's told me to call him ANYTIME day or night if I need anything and we have gotten him out of bed before ona few occasions! One time he even drove over to my house to check on Jaden for me since my car was in the shop. He is the best vet ever!! I'm going to see if we do have a 24 hr one here though, it'd be nice to know where it's at just in case I did ever need it. I hope Spanky is working on a full recovery now! Big hugs to that little sweetheart! |

| Poor Spanky. I hope he'll heal nicely and be running around in no time. My emergency 24 hr animal hospital is 1 mi from me. The number is on the refrig in case it's needed. Hopefully everyone will be sure to find their's after seeing this thread and have the info in a handy place. Hoepfully never to be used. |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I'm a breeder so having an emergency vet is Madatory! I just don't have one, I have 3 !!! I have them posted on my fridge as well as a (human) medicine list you can give to your babies. You just never know when you'll need one and if I can't get ahold of one....I have backup! It happened to a breeder friend just a few weeks back. She had a bitch begin to whelp and knew there was a problem, paged our vet...and guess what? No return call He called THE NEXT MORNING stating the page didn't go thru!!! No way am I going to risk that!!!! She has backups as well and she did end up having a c section, the baby was breach and her rib cage was stuck on the pelvis!!! All babies lived and mom and babies are fine |

| So glad Spanky is okay. I know of 2 emergencies vets I can go to in my area. Just in case one does not have a doctor on call I have a back up hospital. I found this out because my husband had a dummy moment and gave my oldest Doxie chocolate (and didn't tell me until a year later). We had just moved to Texas so I didn't know the area, but I was resourcesful and found two 24 hour hospitals at 1 o'clock in the morning. It is definitely one of the first things you should find out when moving to a new area. |

| I have Ziggy's regular vet's number and the ER number in my cell phone address book as well as the the other phone. The ER is a couple of miles away. I'm glad Spanky will be okay..he looks so pitiful in that cast.

| I am so glad that Spanky is ok -- bless your sweet husband's soul. A vet from the practice I use is on call 24/7. So when I have an emergency, I get to talk to a familar voice, see a familar face -- I just have to pay a little more to do it. |

| My actual vet is a 24 hr clinic/hospital. Whatever I need, whenever I need and their files are always handy. That is one of the main reasons I chose her. Other than she came highly recommended !!! Definately came in handy was Sophie was so bad and had to go to the hospital earlier this week. P.S. Looks like Spanky broke his leg... what happened :-(
