| I got my puppy this last Friday and she's had diarreaha since. I attributed it to stress and her eating my other dog's food. Til I began noticing the blood in it. After reading this and doing some googling, I took her in this morning. And they confirmed she has giardia. So she's on antibiotics and hopefully will get better. I'm also calling her breeder tonight to let him know. If Bella's got it, his others probably do too. Poor thing also had shots today. She got so upset she threw up. Bella was fine after that tho. I felt so bad for her.

| Bella's doing much better. She still has softer stools but has had 2 doses of her medicine and it seems to be clearing up. She's still eating and drinking fine and being a puppy. I called and let the breeder know, he was going to check the rest of his puppies.

| Giardia I'm glad you got her to the vet, I have learned quite a bit about the Giardia. It is a killer of puppies if not caught. And the saddest thing is that it is simple to cure. I thought I got my pup from a home raised breeder, but later found out NOT! The lady, Rita, is actually a broker. My husband called her and she is in denial of everything, so I have to try to contact the breeder via the address on the papers I guess. Mother dogs can be carriers of it and she will need to know that she needs to keep an eye on her pups, after all, pups, once bred are the breeders responsibility for life, that is if you are reputable, from all the paper work I have read yet and that part of that responsibility includes taking responsibility for the health and wellness of those pups. It also entails taking back genetically and physically imperfect or carriers of severe recessive genes and either raising them for the rest of their lives or having the heart to put them to rest, also taking responsibility to deny breeding rights of recessive traits like bad knees. I found this stuff out by the AKC site and sites they suggested via the paperwork I received with my dogs papers. Also through a breeder my sister talks to. I don't think I would ever want to breed. Phoebe is my heart and I would not give her back. I am so glad you caught it and was able to start a resolution of your baby's sickness.

| Please help. I recently got a 4mo old puppy that has a cough, and was diagnosed with giardia and possibly worms. His symptoms seem very similar to what your baby had (mucous in stool with traces of blood). My vet prescribed an antibiotic (Clavamox) for the cough and Panacur for the giardia and worms. I was just wondering what kind of meds you used to cure your baby's cough and giardia? |

| bidyo: My Baby had it too but is well now!!! My Lyra had it about her 4th month. The vet prescribed some antibiotics, a medicine for her stomach and lots and lots of coconut water to keep her hidrated (She loved it). After one week, he said I should give her a medice for worms and that I should be careful and not take her to the pet store for bathing because she could catch all kinds of parasites there. I think she was infected there, because she also got fleas and ticks. Kisses from Lyra and I. Amanda |
