| ![]() I took my puppy to the vet today to get her shots and to get her a check up and to have him look at her eye because it looked like she had a cold in it and i just got her on friday. well the vet said she was over all healthy except for her eye which he says she will need surgery on thursday for because her eye lid has curled under and is rubbing on her eye and it will eventually make her blind in that one eye if I dont take care of it now. So when i got out of the vet i called the breeder lady who i got the dog from and left her a message she just called back and when i told her what the vet said she now wants me to drive 2 1/2 hours back to Independance to give the dog back for a refund after Ive only had the dog for barely 3 days. I do not know what im supposed to do now I want to keep the puppy but she doesnt want me to have it go through surgery and the breeder lady still has to send me my akc papers when she gets them so i dont want to make her mad. what should I do has anyone else had this problem with the breeder or with their dog? |

| ![]() Did you sign a health guarantee? I signed something on my girl that said we would have her checked out at the vet within 48 hours of buying on top of the 1 year health guarantee. If something was wrong she would pay for it. I don't think many people have these guarantees. For my male I signed a 1 year health guarantee. I was aware that he had a hernia that he might outgrow, the breeder said he would fix it I wanted. But wanted me to wait til he was older/bigger. He would even pay if I wanted my vet to do it. Just depends. But when did the eye start getting that way?

| ![]() Sorry to hear this! Well maybe she'll work with you if you show her that you are interested in having this fixed? Maybe she just wanted to spare you the expense of the surgery? Did the eye problem just occur since you've gotten her or was it like that when you go her? I'm sure if you call and tell her that you are interested in just doing the surgery she'll understand. I know that I couldn't have parted with mine after 3 days!

| ![]() most of the health guarantees are for 'genetic illnesses' anyway. I responded to your other thread on another forum. |

| ![]() Mine was great! The 48 hour one covered EVERYTHING (rare I know)!!! My male didn't have this, he only had the genetic illness...

| ![]() I would just tell the breeder that your not interested in giving the puppy back, that you only want her to pay for the surgery. I'm afraid of what she would do with the puppy now. |

| ![]() I dont think she wants it to have surgery so i dont think she would have it done if she got her back. and the vet said it could cause her to lose her vision in that eye so it needs to be done i had a pekinesse with something similar and she was to old to have surgery i got her that way to and i had to give her eye drops 4 times a day 2 different kinds she was really old tho when i got her and they couldnt do surgery on her they said she wouldnt make it threw. the breeder says that my puppy is to small to go threw surgery to im not sure the vet said she was old enough shes still sure she to small for her age and the vet said she was fine for her age |
