Thank you everyone for your responses. I have been quite busy with work and the little one so I have been off for a few days. I gave her the benadryl twice and have not given it to her all weekend or this week. She seemed this morning to a bit calmer. While she was sleeping I was petting her and she rolled over to have her belly scratched and she laid there for me to do it. It was great. She was in no hurry at 7:00 this morning.

Have you tried taking her for a long walk to release pent up energy and frustration. After I crate Cozy (less than 2 hrs.) I always have to take her for an 1hr. walk otherwise she is bouncing off the walls. Hope this helps. Also it takes some time for dogs to adjust to a new environment.

We hope you will have improvement and success as your TY adjusts to the change in her owner and environment. Please be sure to keep us posted even if you have signs of improvement. Kudos to you for rescuing this precious little life.

I've also heard that Prozac is very useful in obsessive compulsive disorder. I saw it used on a cat that was obsessively biting its own tail until it bled, and it worked miracles.

The other suggestion I have is that you give the dog a mission, some sort of useful reason for being. I've seen Cesar Milan often use this method with neurotic dogs. He gives them something to do. Usually he uses a backpack made for dogs (they are available in very small sizes for toy dogs - I saw one online today, could have been on gollygear.com). He puts something in it, like a bag of dried beans, or a jar of pickles or anything that has some weight to it, maybe a 1/2-1 lb for a little dog. Then he takes them for a walk. That seems to do the trick in the dogs that Cesar has had to treat for neurosis. It makes them feel useful, and they no longer do their neurotic behavior.

One dog he rehabilitated kept running around the house outside. He did it so many times that he had worn a path in their grass. You might check your library or a video store. The episodes are available to buy and some video stores, such as Netflix carry the series.

Good luck with what ever you decide to try. I know if I had a dog pacing all the time, I would need the Prozac for myself.

It looks like you have been given a lot of different options to try. I hope that you find something that works.

Well the walk.... still paced after an hour. SHe did great on a leash. Just going to take time. She does get a treat once a day. So everytime she makes her house rounds she comes and sniffs to see if its treat time. She actually is pretty cute when she does it, she has a look on her face like "fine then, I have other things to do". Time will tell how she does. I did have a rescue offer to take her, to rescue her??? I thought *I* did that.

You *did* do that. She is lucky to have you. I believe I wrote that in case she had severe medical issues which, the way you described her sounded to me like it could be the case. Sometimes people get these babies and there are serious issues that the person cannot afford. It was NOT meant to be an insult in any way.

It really sounds neurological to me. You should have them run a scan on her brain...
