My daughter is a pharmacist intern and there is NOTHING she does in the pharmacy that her pharmacist doesn't check before it goes out...and he trusts her completly...I'm saying my prayers for your little baby girl Daisy...I hope she will be ok....and you hang in there too mom...I know it's hard right now and that you must be so terribly worried

and sending lots of prayers too

You're lucky that you knew enough to question the dosage. I wouldn't have had any idea! I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'll keep you both in my prayers.

OMG!!!!!I don't know how I missed this last night before I logged off. Amber I am so sorry about Daisy. If it hasn't been one thing it's been another and I know you must be overwhelmed with emotions right now. When you are hurting because of your ankle and not getting much sleep it is even harder to handle things. Try to hang in there and keep only positivie thoughts. You were lucky to have noticed their screw up. I am not sure I would have. I pray that you caught it soon enough and there is no permanent damage. Keep us posted on how Daisy is doing. Keep your chin up even though I know it is hard, we are all thinking of you and Daisy and Peeka too.

Just wanted to add that pharmacists are human like all of us, and occasionally make mistakes. Since my DD was overdosed on an antibiotic due to improper mixing by the pharmacy, i now double check the dosage for her weight before i give it to her. DD was not harmed by the incident, but I was hysterical.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers it means so much to me. Sorry i haven't been on earlier but i had a long sleepless night. The hospital just called and Daisy has made it through the night. She is not out of the woods but it's a great sign that she might be ok. They have been taking her blood a lot to test her liver for any damage and so far it's all coming back with no damage this is a really good sign but i can't get to excited yet the flagyl as i said well it's actually Metronidazol which i think is the same thing well this is a human medicine and even in normal doses it can cause neurological damage so the amount i gave he is not only leathal but is very hard for her little body to handle she will need blood tests untill Tuesday to make sure her liver was not compramised. She is eating and drinking and also hooked up to an I.V I am hoping for the best i know she will pull through she is a tough cookie. Thank you again Eva Hoku's mom i'm glad i asked about your vet yesterday because that is where i took her they have been very nice. I don't know what i would do without you all here at YT you are such a big part of my life. I can't thank you enough for your support. I will keep you all updated as soon as i hear anything. Yes i am furious with the phamacy but as someone stated before they are human and the pharm guy was so upset i think he was crying and he didn't hesitate to pay the bill. I am so releived because it would have been really hard to come up with $1400.00 just like that. I hope my string of bad luck is over now. Thank you all for the Pm's you have sent me as well it really touches my heart when i see us all ban together.

I am so sorry this happened to Daisy and pray for her swift recovery. It is great that the pharmacy is taking responsibility and covering her vet bills. It was a terrible mistake on their part and a costly one. To err is human and we all make mistakes. I am sure they will be much more diligent in making sure the prescription is correct before sending it out in the future. I am so glad you questioned the dosage and also want to thank you for posting about this. I am sure you have helped all of us in that not one of us reading this will ever give our babies any meds without checking and doublechecking from now on to make sure it is right.
