| Sparky is sick Sparky is 11 weeks old. This morning he began with a little sneezing fit. About 5 minutes later he started throwing up (over and over again). He threw up about 10 - 15 times in 40 minutes. Then he had a bout of diarrhea. He had been fine just before all this. Then he got the shakes and was just laying around. I know he didn't get into anything he wasn't supposed to, because he had been with me. He had used the potty (inside on the paper) just like he's suppposed to, had gotten his treat of two honey nut cheerios and was acting fine til the little sneezing started. I rushed him to the vets as soon as they opened this morning at 7 am. They told me the vet gets there at 8 am and for me to leave him and the doctor would call me. Please pray for him, as he is my baby and I've been doing nothing but crying cause I've read how they can get sick so quick and go into shock. I don't know what to do but pray. |

| update on Sparky I just talked to the vet and she said she couldn't find anything wrong with Sparky, that he may have just got himself stressed with the sneezing and it made him throw up. She said he wasn't dehydrated and his tummy didn't seem tender, and he hadn't thrown up anymore since being there. She said she seen no reason to ru any blood tests on him and I could come pick him up and get him back home where he feels secure, or leave him there for a the day and let them watch him. I told her I would prefer to bring him back home, so I'm going to go get my baby and please continue to pray for him. It scared me so bad for him to get sick so quick. |

| OMG poor baby If he shows the slightest sign of still being sick, get a second opinion please. I would feel better for you guys if there had been some tests run (fecal, blood, etc.) to determine what it could/could not be. I'm sure that you'll watch him like a hawk, Momma!

| Oh believe me, I will watch him very close. He is sleeping now, and he wouldn't eat anything when I got him home, except a couple licks of chicken baby food. I've fixed some rice cooked with chicken broth for when he wakes up. I'll see if I can get him to eat some of that and hopefully it'll stay down. I've been home for about an hour or so and this is his usual nap time. I pray that when he wakes up, he'll be close to being back to normal. The vet didn't do any fecal test or stuff like that because he was just there last Saturday for a check up and a shot. They did the fecal check then and he was clear. She said he didn't have a temperature, she thinks he just got stressed from the sneezing he did prior to the throwing up. Thanks for the prayers. I really lost it when he got sick, because a year and a half ago we had to put our lab to sleep after 3 months of medication and doing everything possible to make him better. He had some kind of disease that has a term a mile long.....but what it amounts to is it kills his platelets and his organs eventually started shutting down. And it just began with a little bit of gum bleeding. We thought it was a dental problem, and I took him to the vet that very day. They ran some blood work, and sent me to a specialist intensive care hospital. He would get better for a few days and then something else would happen. It was so heart wrenching. He was my shadow and I vowed I'd never get another dog because I did not want to go through that heartache again. But here I am, totally in love after only 5 weeks with my 11 week old Sparky. |

| Glad to hear Sparky is back home with you. Try not to stress too much, it'll be okay. And like someone else mentioned if you still feel something is wrong I'd take him for another opinion just for the peace of mind

Since he just got shots, do you think it may have been a reaction from that? I only say that because Cali just got shots a week ago this past Saturday, and she threw up three or four times that day. Then, on Sunday, she was all better.

| This happened to our Pookie the first time she got shots. We called the vet who did the shots and she had us come in for a reaction shot. She said on the next shots, they would pretreat her before the shot to avoid reactions like that. So that's what they did and everything went very smoothly the next set of shots. |

| Sparky is doing much better Thank you so much for your prayers and thoughts. I was such a basket case when my baby got sick this morning. I was beginning to think I was going to have to take him back to the vet's this afternoon because all he was doing was laying around sleeping and he was just acting so weak. Well about 1:00 I was able to get him to eat about 2 teaspoons of rice cooked in chicken broth. He then slept the rest of the afternoon until about 4:00. When he woke up, I got him to eat about 2 more teaspoons of rice, then about a teaspoon of chicken baby food. Then about 15 minutes ago he ate about 1 teaspoon of low fat cottage cheese. Then he started playing around, picking up his toys and shaking them and chewing on my fingers. He played for about 5 minutes or so and now he's napping again. But I think he's doing much better. Thank you all again so very much. |

| I'm so glad it's nothing major. I, too, wonder if it could be a reaction to his shot.
