I would at least try the pills - I know we're always reluctant to fix a problem with our babies with drugs when we can't see the need for it. Clearly though your little one has to be in some degree of pain to have her NOT be using that leg. I would try the pills for at least a day or two - keeping a close eye on her. At least if she doesn't start to put weight on her leg AFTER taking the pills as prescribed, you can go BACK to your vet and force him to do some further investigating. Are you SURE the pads of her foot are okay? Does it hurt when you rub the bottom of her foot? Have you tried to put her foot down and does she resist?

Okay...I'll give her the 1/4 pill and post how that goes. At this time, she is holding the leg almost to or barely touching the ground but she is still protecting it. I tried to rub and put a little pressure on her foot (very little, all over, and flex it) and she just resisted but did not cry at all. I will post again shortly after I give her that pill and see what happens.

if she's not complaining and doesn't appear to be in pain, i wouldn't give them to her. Your not a bad mommy. Pain killers mask the pain and the dogs think they are all better and run around like a nut.

Since you already gave her the pill i'd just watch her and make sure she doesn't over do it. you may think she's better if she's using it and running around again but she's probably not. it just doesn't hurt at the moment.

Poor baby - I hope she feels better soon...they didn't find anything wrong with her leg ?? What about her hip ?

Hmmm...that is strange that the vet didn't find anything wrong. What's the next step? Just watch her? I was going to ask about her hip, too. I had a horse one time that came up lame one day, and after many, many tests on his leg they found out the injury was way up in his hip. I know horses aren't even close to yorkies, but that's the first thing I thought of when you described it. I hope she feels better soon!
