sick puppy so I just got my puppy a week ago - exactly. This morning he's got the runs and then starts puking and pretty much puked 3 or 4 times. So I called the vet and brought him in - they gave him a shot of something to keep him hydrated and (since I gave him boiled chicken last night with his regular food), the vet said to feed him only teaspoons of cottage cheese and rice and only offer him little bits of water at a time. If by Friday he's OK, he said to slowly mix his food into the cottage cheese/rice blend. I feel so bad for the poor little guy! I just really really really hope it's nothing serious.

thanks so much!! He seemed playful and was looking through his bag for cheerios on the way home from the vet. the breeder had him tested for liver shunt and he came up negative, but the test results I got back were for a puppy whose age was 10 months. Either the breeder gave me the wrong copy of the test results OR the vet hospital entered 10 months instead of 10 weeks. Either way, I just hope he's feeling better soon!

| It reminded me when I got my pup. She was ok the first week and got sick with the symptoms like your pup. I gave her boiled chicken and rice. i was so scarred of possible parvo since she also has diarrhea. Everything went well and she is healty now. I am sure it will be fine. The boiled chicken and rice soup really help her. Be careful with the cottage cheese, it can cause diarrhea if it is too much. | Banks is doing better!! GOOD NEWS! He's been doing well and has been really hyper today! Since I'm only giving him teaspoons of rice and little bits of water at a time, he doesn't have much in him, but luckily everything is going well.. he even likes his medicine! I'm sooooo relieved! |

So glad your baby is feeling better. It can be so scary for us, as the little ones can go down so fast!

Thanks for the get well wishes! Banks has been hyper and all over the place today....I'm a little concerned because my boyfriend said he was shredding his pee pads...I just hope he's not eating them because that can be a sign of liver shunt (from what I understand). Luckily, Banks is a VERY big boy! He's going to be about 9 or 10 or maybe even 11 or 12 pounds fully grown - he's only 4 months old and weighs 6 pounds now. The breeder knew he was going to be out of the standard weight, but he was just so sweet, inquisitive and easy-going, I had to have him!
