Sorry to hear about your baby, hope little Mimi will be ok, that's so sad. But why would someone bring their "large" dog to your house, is that ok? Did you ok for them to bring their dog? I'm not trying to be funny, just asking because I wouldn't take my dog to anyone's house without asking. Someone could be allergic or just not want other dogs in their house. And I would'nt want to have to put my dog up in my own house. |

I also was quite worried over the Holidays and the parties. My Jazzi has 10 wk. old puppies that usually hang out in my kitchen & florida room all day. Ofcourse those are the 2 rooms where all of my guests wanted to hang out. I have 2 very large Nephews and just knew I had to keep my little babies from under foot. So I just took Mom, Dad & Babies down stairs to my laundry room ( it's heated) and locked the door. That served 2 purposes for me since my laundry room is always messy and I didn't have time to clean it.(It's always the last room on my list that I never seem to get to).Works for Me! Sorry to ramble on with my story. I just wanted to let you know I understand how tuff it is keeping these little Heaven Sent Angels safe. MiMi will be fine though just let her know she is everything to you, that's 1/2 the Battle. I would try to take her for a long walk by putting her in a doggie stroller. Maybe you could inprovise or alter a baby stroller. Take her for a long walk in good old fresh air. This may do the trick. I used to take my babies out on "fresh air walks." It would help them to fall asleep. After that play some classical music for her or put a radio or tv on for her at night. Some things for thought. I think in terms of "what would I do with a small child in this situation" and go with your thoughts. Hope this helps. |
Poor Mimi :( I hope she has a speedy recovery! |
I am so sorry for poor lil Mimi !! I am sorry for you too!! I wish her a speedy recovery!! |
No they did not phone ahead to ask. I keep on saying "what if." My uncle said oh, just put her down to play. Oh boy, why would I put her down to play with a dog four times her size and take such a big chance. From now on I will have a lock on the bedroom door. I just hope everyone reads this thread and will not have to go through this. It was smart for you to put them in the laundry room. that would be the last place someone would go. Maybe someone who knows how can put out important notice so that we can all keep our babies safe. |
Only a good lock will keep some from going in a room and playing with your baby anyway! Putting a door knob on with a lock is fairly easy (for me anyway), and usually less than 10 bucks. Most door knobs come with 2 keys too. And I'd certainly pocket both keys. Most folks will NOT listen when you tell them your dog will jump out of their arms! And they WON'T sit on the floor to play with them, they insist on picking them up. I see my family isn't the only one with a few idiots in it. |
update Mimi is slowly adjusting to her splint. We have a vet appointment on Friday to have a second opinion on her condition. I still have so much guilt about the whole thing even thought I could never have predicted this. My reason for posting in the first place is to prevent anyone else from this tragedy. She goes to the office with me and now I keep her on my lap most of the day. Haha try typing over a yt...it isn't easy. I just nurture and kiss her all the time. thank you so much for everyone's well wishes. It really helps to know there is so much support. I am sure there are better days ahead. |
here she is with splint and all. Mimi goes for a new splint on Friday. They will x ray and hopefully she will be able to heal without any surgery. I never posted pics before. I hope this works. sorry can not load photos/ |
These poor little yorkies and visitors in our homes who just don't get it. My sweet little Willow is recovering from a broken leg as well because of a little boy that came over at Christmas and picked her up . . . after many times of being told not to. I am so sorry that Mimi had to get her leg broken too. I hope the doctors were able to set her leg and she doesn't have to go through surgery like Willow and Cali the other little yorkie with the broken leg on here did. Just give Mimi lots of hugs and kisses and we are all praying for her to get better soon so she can play again. |
Im so sorry to hear that , my thoughts and prayers are with you and your baby (( Hugs )) |
