please pray Last evening when we had company, someone brought their dog to our house. I don't trust larger dogs around my Mimi so I put her in our bedroom. Our room is "puppy proof," so I thought she was safe. There must have been someone who went into the room and shut or opened the door on her leg. To make a long story short her leg was fractured. My little angel is recovering after an emergency visit to the vet. I am so upset. I should have told everyone to stay out of the room. I have learned a hard lesson through all of this. If I ever put her there again there will be a lock on the door. Sorry this is so long. :cry8: |
Oh no poor Mimi, that is awful, Hope she gets feeling better soon...Did they say she will be okay....poor little thing....sending love, kisses and prayers for a speedy recovery.....:( |
I am so sorry! My thoughts and prayers are for you and your baby. Is your baby home? Accidents can and do happen sometimes no matter how much you try to prevent them. It sounds like you tried to anticipate things but it is hard to plan for the unexpected. Take care |
Mimi is home and I don't leave her side for very long. Give her lots of tummy rubs and tlc. Her leg is set right now, but I need to take the x rays to the vet this week. Her appetite is good and that is comforting. Thank you for your kindness. |
Poor little Mimi. Please don't beat yourself up as accidents happen all the time even with every precaution taken. I'm glad to know Mimi is home with you and is feeling well despite her fracture. Sending both Mimi and you hugs... |
Poor baby! |
Oh no the poor baby. How awful you must feel. How could somone have done that and not known it. I hope she does well and is back to running around soon. |
Poor baby. Praying for her speedy recovery:) |
I'm so sorry Mimi was hurt and pray for her complete recovery. I must tell you what I did after my grandaughter dropped a dog of mine 5 years ago and Lily hit her head on the floor, died 3 days later from a blood clot. I told this child never to pick Lily up but she never is disciplined by her parents, doesn't listen to anyone. I saw it happening and couldn't get to Lily in time. I now have locks on all my bedroom doors as well as deadbholts. I'm an awful grandmother but my dogs are everything to me. I don't permit any children or guests to touch my dogs. I lock them up and pocket the keys. |
Aw, poor Mimi:( I hope she's not in much pain and will recovery quickly. Does she need surgery? I can't believe that someone shut her leg in the door and didn't notice:confused: |
update Mimi is having a some difficulty in maneuvering her injured leg because the splint covering made her right leg longer than the left one. But she is resting most of the time on my lap. I am so lucky to have her here at the office. I would be a nervous wreck if I had to leave her at home. I do put her in her little bed next to my desk once in a while. So we have a vet appointment this week for a second opinion. I hope for good news. :) Thanks to all who sent well wishes and prayers. |
Poor Mimi. I know exactly what you mean with the splint.....Cali's back left leg is the one that broke, so when I take her out to use the potty, she almost tips over trying to manuever. And last night was the worst: Since the doctor told us to make sure that she stays still, ofcourse that means she sleeps a lot during the day. And you know what that means? A dog who is no where near sleepy at night. So, from one in the morning until about five, she screamed. Howled like she did when I first brought her home a month ago. She hadn't done that since like the first two or three days home. I don't know how I'm gonna make it through these next 5 weeks. I don't want her to start feeling like I'm going to get her in the middle of the night. It wasn't like she was in pain, though. She wanted to play. She had completed shredded her peepee pad, one of her toys had been thrown out of her pen, it looked like she had entertained herself as much as she could, and couldn't take it anymore. I felt bad, but I ended up just closing her up in her crate and closing her up in a room downstairs. Having to work today, I needed to get at least a few hours of sleep. I've got to figure out how to keep her awake and entertained tonight enough to wear her out, but without a lot of movement. Any ideas? |
Just wanted to send a prayer for a complete recovery for your little Mimi. Accidents happen don't feel guilty. It's not your fault. Hugs from Buddy. Carol & Buddy |
So sorry to hear that tis happened. it can happen so quickly withthese little guys. I just went though a leg fracture with Tia. You'll be surprised at how quickly she will recover. I will keep you in my prayers |
I hope that your baby is feeling better!!! bella and i send lots of prayers!! i cannnot believe that the person did not realize they closed her in the door!!! i am soo sorry for your baby, but i am sure she will be back to normal in no time!!! |
Sorry to hear about your baby, hope little Mimi will be ok, that's so sad. But why would someone bring their "large" dog to your house, is that ok? Did you ok for them to bring their dog? I'm not trying to be funny, just asking because I wouldn't take my dog to anyone's house without asking. Someone could be allergic or just not want other dogs in their house. And I would'nt want to have to put my dog up in my own house. |

I also was quite worried over the Holidays and the parties. My Jazzi has 10 wk. old puppies that usually hang out in my kitchen & florida room all day. Ofcourse those are the 2 rooms where all of my guests wanted to hang out. I have 2 very large Nephews and just knew I had to keep my little babies from under foot. So I just took Mom, Dad & Babies down stairs to my laundry room ( it's heated) and locked the door. That served 2 purposes for me since my laundry room is always messy and I didn't have time to clean it.(It's always the last room on my list that I never seem to get to).Works for Me! Sorry to ramble on with my story. I just wanted to let you know I understand how tuff it is keeping these little Heaven Sent Angels safe. MiMi will be fine though just let her know she is everything to you, that's 1/2 the Battle. I would try to take her for a long walk by putting her in a doggie stroller. Maybe you could inprovise or alter a baby stroller. Take her for a long walk in good old fresh air. This may do the trick. I used to take my babies out on "fresh air walks." It would help them to fall asleep. After that play some classical music for her or put a radio or tv on for her at night. Some things for thought. I think in terms of "what would I do with a small child in this situation" and go with your thoughts. Hope this helps. |
Poor Mimi :( I hope she has a speedy recovery! |
I am so sorry for poor lil Mimi !! I am sorry for you too!! I wish her a speedy recovery!! |
No they did not phone ahead to ask. I keep on saying "what if." My uncle said oh, just put her down to play. Oh boy, why would I put her down to play with a dog four times her size and take such a big chance. From now on I will have a lock on the bedroom door. I just hope everyone reads this thread and will not have to go through this. It was smart for you to put them in the laundry room. that would be the last place someone would go. Maybe someone who knows how can put out important notice so that we can all keep our babies safe. |
Only a good lock will keep some from going in a room and playing with your baby anyway! Putting a door knob on with a lock is fairly easy (for me anyway), and usually less than 10 bucks. Most door knobs come with 2 keys too. And I'd certainly pocket both keys. Most folks will NOT listen when you tell them your dog will jump out of their arms! And they WON'T sit on the floor to play with them, they insist on picking them up. I see my family isn't the only one with a few idiots in it. |
update Mimi is slowly adjusting to her splint. We have a vet appointment on Friday to have a second opinion on her condition. I still have so much guilt about the whole thing even thought I could never have predicted this. My reason for posting in the first place is to prevent anyone else from this tragedy. She goes to the office with me and now I keep her on my lap most of the day. Haha try typing over a yt...it isn't easy. I just nurture and kiss her all the time. thank you so much for everyone's well wishes. It really helps to know there is so much support. I am sure there are better days ahead. |
here she is with splint and all. Mimi goes for a new splint on Friday. They will x ray and hopefully she will be able to heal without any surgery. I never posted pics before. I hope this works. sorry can not load photos/ |
These poor little yorkies and visitors in our homes who just don't get it. My sweet little Willow is recovering from a broken leg as well because of a little boy that came over at Christmas and picked her up . . . after many times of being told not to. I am so sorry that Mimi had to get her leg broken too. I hope the doctors were able to set her leg and she doesn't have to go through surgery like Willow and Cali the other little yorkie with the broken leg on here did. Just give Mimi lots of hugs and kisses and we are all praying for her to get better soon so she can play again. |
Im so sorry to hear that , my thoughts and prayers are with you and your baby (( Hugs )) |
