| Cold outside! Rebel fell in the goldfish pond! When I took Rebel and Lucy in the backyard for their last trip outside tonight Rebel followed Lucy to the back side of the yard and fell in the goldfish pond that I'm having installed! It is full of water because of heavy rain. It's cold here and I got him inside and in a warm tub of water for a quick bath and then blew him dry. He was very cold and trembled for quite a while. I kept him wrapped in a fleece baby blanket that came straight from the dryer and was still warm. I kept him wrapped up and close to me for about an hour. He fell asleep and I put him in his bed still wrapped up. I'm worried that he may catch a cold or worse from this experience. He seemed OK when I put him down and I've check on him several times, but I'm still worried. Do I need to do anything else that anyone can think of?

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Oh poor baby. I would just keep him warm all night like you are doing. He should be fine.

| Aww, poor Rebel Unscheduled swim, huh? Did he go under, get any water in his nose at all? I'd only worry that he aspirated some water which could lead to pnuemonia. If he's sleeping peacefully, I'm sure he's fine. Just watch him the next few days for any respiratory symptoms.

| Thank for your speedy responses! I just checked on him again. He's still covered up and his breathing seems fine. He's just so little! At his vet visit last week (checkup) he weighed 1 lb 8 oz (12 weeks old) . I don't think his head went under because it seemed dry when I got him out. I just feel so guilty! I had the back lights on, but it's hard to follow him once it's dark because he's still black and tan. Lucy knew something was wrong and started barking like crazy! God I hope he'll be Ok - I'm just scared to death!

| Awww, he's so tiny! I'm sure he'll be okay, it's not like he was in there for a long time, and you got him warm right away. I'd think that if he was in discomfort, he'd not be sleeping. Lucy deserves a HUGE treat and tons of kisses!!!!! GOOD girl!!!!!!!!!

| What a scare! I will say a prayer that all is well with him! I think if he'd aspirated any water, you'd probably already be noticing symptoms. Poor little sweetie...and poor you! Hugs to you! I'm glad to hear he's resting comfortably!

| Ahh, poor baby. Sounds like you got him warmed up in time. Does this mean he is an official member of the Polar Bear Club (those crazy folks who take a swim in freezing weather every year)? What a good girl your Lucy is to have alerted you to Rebel's danger.

| Update on Rebel Rebel (Yes, my little Polar Bear Club member) is fine today. He's running around driving Lucy (my little hero!) nuts and getting underfoot while I'm cooking for tomorrow! I dropped a biscuit on the floor this morning and he dive bombed it! Between Rebel and Lucy, that biscuit was gone in 2 seconds!
