| I purchased a sick puppy Hello everyone, I purchased a Yorkie from a petshop (against my better judgement). The puppy came home and became very sick with sniffles, congestion, and a cough. My puppy was extremely weak and would not eat. The next morning she was worse. I could hardly wake her up and when I stood her up she would fall over. I fed her some Nutrical (which contains Corn syrup) I put it on her nose and she licked it off. I took her to the vet asap and he said she has Kennel cough and she was hypoglicemic and thats why she was so weak. I have to give her 2 antibiotics a day and feed her babyfood w/ caro syrup.I have also been taking her to the vet for breathing treatments (for her congestion). THe puppy is doing alot better but still congested and still not eating on her own. I feed her with a spoon! She is getting more spunky everday! My concern is that she has not pooped since wednesday night.. I dont understand why she hasnt gone, she has consumed 2 small jars of chicken baby food with Caro in 3 days..I am worried! I feel like I am taking care of a newborn baby! I thought I was purchasing a puppy,A dog!!! I have this baby on my lap all day wrapped in a blanket, feeding it by hand and I have even cried! Over a DOG!!! It's so funny I just love her, I dont feel like she is a dog at all. Ok sorry so long, I just needed to vent to someone who would understand. Should I worry that my dog has not pooped in 3 days? |

| HI, I hope you will take your vet bills to the pet store and make them pay for it. I hope all turns out well in the end with your fur baby! Is there anything blocking your baby from popping? Otherwise maybe someone else will have some advice for you! Keep us updated on how your little one is doing and I am glad she is getting better everyday!

| Welcome to YT. so sorry for what you are experiencing. Many on here have had the same experience. She may not be pooping because she isn't eating enough. But you could give her some canned pumpkin to help. You ARE taking care of an infant. that is how one should view a yorkie puppy. they are not like a lab or a cocker spaniel. they need constant care and supervision for the first few months. Good luck. I hope she gets better soon. |

| Yes, I have been back to the store 2 times. They are helpful but when I purchased my puppy I signed a release that I was responsible for certain conditions, one being kennel cough because THEY say it is a common cold. They did cover the puppies visit to the vet and the breathing treatments. I am super bummed that a store would just sell a dog to the public that they know is obviously sick. |

For that young a puppy please watch her carefully for dehydration and try to make sure she drinks lots of water - and pedialite for babies is good to give her too GOOD LUCK !! | Wow so young I bet she is tiny. I would report the store to the s.p.c.a or what ever is out there they will go in and make sure all is right. Let your vet know about the no BM thing she may be pluged up? Are they open today? |

| Hi boy you have been through a rough time. Glad she is still with you though. Make sure she is drinking enough and pedialyte for a couple of days is good too. FOr one so young and small, about 2 cc pedialyte 3 times a day will help. You can also syringe some water to her mouth and she will likely drink a little more than way. Check her bum and make sure dried poop isn't there blocking her from evacuating. If you are taking her to the Vet you can get them to check, make sure she isn't bloated. If the Vet has it you can get a couple of tins of Hill's A/D It is an appetite stimulate and very rich for dogs or cats recovering from surgeries or ill. That will also get her bowels moving better. good luck with her. |

| Rebel pooped when I first got him, then abruptly stopped. The second day, I checked his rear and the hair was thick and matted in the anal area. I could see that he was trying to poop, but it was getting trapped in the hair. I put a couple inches of warm (not hot) water in my bathroom sink and set him in it on his rear for a few minutes until everything that was dried had softened enough for me to clean it good. Then I cleaned and refilled the sink and gave him an all-over bath, dried him, and used a beard trimmed to "buzz" his rear end and remove the anal hair. He's been fine since then, I just have to make sure this area is always trimmed because he has VERY thick hair. Good luck with your baby!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry you got such a sick baby, but luckily she got a caring owner. Sometimes the antibiotics will make them not poop for a few days. If she doesn't go by tomorrow I would call the vet. Good luck you are doing everything right.
