my puppy is vomiting This morning i noticed my hampton had thrown up about four or five times . His diet has not changed i been giving him purina puppy chow since i had him, although i did buy the same brand of food, the package i picked up has coloring on the bits. Could the coloring in the food be the reason he's sick? even though i bought the food last week and now its just making him sick. oh and is there any remedy to calm a dogs stomach from vomiting? BTW: oh hes still playing and jumping around

How old is he? Has he been wormed? I doubut if it is the food, however, Purina is not a very good food for a yorkie. There are many better brands on the market. Has he been eating a rawhide or greenie? Do you give him table scraps? What is he throwing up? Bile? Carol & Buddy

| How old is he, and how much does he weigh? If he's very young and/or tiny, get him to the vet NOW! We almost lost our baby Luna to hypoglycemia, if I'd waited any longer she would have been gone If he's not eating, I posted a formula on the Health and Diet forum here http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58036 Please see if you can get him to eat this, or if he won't eat, force feed him with a syringe. Him playing is a good sign, but he can go down fast. When they don't eat, it's best to keep them quiet so they're not burning calories that they can't afford. I hope he's okay!

Strange you asked about the coloring on the food. My boy will throw food or treats up that has a redish color. But he's 5 years old, not a puppy, and that makes a HUGE difference. It is dangerous for puppies when they throw up. I'd go with taking him to the vet, like Lunasmamma said. Throwing up that much isn't real normal, in my opinion, especially for a puppy. Puppies can go down SO fast. Many have lost their puppies from not taking them soon enough.

the vomiting stopped i just want to let you all know that replied yesterday, that Hampton is doing much better he actually stopped purging once i left for work, and can you believe he knew it was the food making him sick, he actually kicked all the food that i put in his bowl all over the floor . thanks to the advice you all gave me i was able to run out and get the proper dog food for him. I bought chicken soup for the dog lovers soul and hes been receptive to it so all the comments and concerns were well appreciated thank you.

Lexi is vomiting too! She does it every 2 to 3 weeks. Sometimes clear, sometimes yellow & recently brown. She is not normal today. When I am home, she is usually at my side. Today she greeted me, then went to another room & layed there. Something is not right. She vomited clear today. What do I do?????

Start feeding a better food one without corn, soy, a meat (no byproducts) listed first in the ingredients. I am sure it was the dyes that caused the vomiting, even my huge Alaskan Malamute can eat anything, but my Mom gave him some food as a treat she was feeding her Malteses and he instantly through it up.
