| Puppy broken leg? I don't know what to do..... I was outside with the puppy and my other dogs when one of my kids screamed in the house. I ran in the house to see what the matter was and I accidently shut the door on the puppy. She is 11 1/2 wks old. She yelped really loud and when I picked her up to see she bit me. She's not putting any pressure on the leg at all. She is walking when I call her to me but she's holding her leg up and against her body. I tried my vet but he won't be home until 9. What should I do? Is this something that can wait or do I need to start calling the vets in the phone book? The nearest emergency vet hospital is more than 2 hrs from me. Please give me some advise. Also she already has a vet appointment tomorrow for a check up to make sure there's nothing wrong with her since she's been crying so much since I got her.

| At this point, I think I would wait for your vet to call you and see what he says. Poor baby and poor you!!! I hope everything turns out okay. Please let us know.

| I'm sitting here crying..... I still have another hour before I can get ahold of the vet. I'm the worst mommy in the world.......... I've hurt this poor little pup and there's nothing I can do to take it back. I just can't beleive this happened. I'm always so careful with little ones. I just don't know how this happened. She hasn't ever been able to climb the back porch steps before and I ran so it's not like I was going slow to give her a chance to get up the steps. I just didn't see her there and now she's hurt and probably needs surgery and she's just barely 2 lbs. I just don't know how she's gonna survive all of this that I put her through.

| Im sorry this happened to your baby...Im wondering though if it is broken? I would think if it were, it would be dangling? I dont THINK she would be able to pull it up like that? Im not sure, so dont quote me. Also I would think she would still be screaming bloody murder...can you feel the leg without getting bitten again? See if you can feel a break..maybe if it is you can get a popsicle stick and cloth and wrap it up? I am not much help I know...hope she is alright!! DO NOT blame YOURSELF for an accident!! It wasnt done intentionally to hurt her. Please keep us posted. Dawn |

| I do beleive I feel a break right were the foot bends to the leg. It is all swollen and she does try to bite me if I touch it. I think she's in shock too because she is wanting to sleep and not be touched at all. I can't help but blame myself because I should have taken more precautions before slamming the door behind me. It was totally my fault rather it was an accident or not. I just can't beleive this. My vet will probably think I'm the worse owner ever.

| I just got off the phone with him and he said that it did sound like it was broke and to bring her in first thing in the morning for surgery to fix it. I think I'm going to cry now.

| Hang in there, girl. I know right now life feels like it totally sucks and knowing you hurt your baby (even though it was an accident) is making you feel even worse. But, try to let it all go. Tomorrow will still come and everything will work itself out. Please give your little baby a hug from us and have her give you a kiss from us, too. We will all get through this together. Please let us know how she is tomorrow. We'll be thinking of you...

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Don't cry It was an accident. Just go and lay with her and make her comfortable till morning. She knows you didn't mean it. Think positive You'll go to the vet tomorrow, your vet will fix her right up, and things will start to feel better. We'll be here if you need to talk it out. IT WILL GET BETTER !!! It will....I swear |

| It was certainly an accident but IMO I would rethink my vet. I cannot believe he told you to wait until morning. Personally with 8 furbabies, I could not have a vet like that! |

| Why? He said I could bring her in but they would put off surgery until morning since she ate recently. I might as well keep her here with me and save a little money. I trust my vet totally!
