I believe most vets would give that advice, because mst human Dr's would also. they dojn't hospitalize you with a broken bone and if there is nothing they can do till morning then there is nothing they can do.

she could probably find a vet that would have her bring it in and then charge her to tell her he can;t do anything til morning. And charge her for keeping it over night.

Kitty,
don't feel so bad. Accidents happen.

The vet said that she may be acting like it still is in alot of pain because I babied her when she got hurt and she liked all the extra attention.

That is good news. it might still be tender, or she might just be afraid that it's going to hurt.

That's WONDERFUL news!! Her leg is probably a little tender, but sounds like she's really milking it for extra attention!

aaaaawwwww..poor baby...Time to count the blessings - it could easily have been her neck that got slammed everyone's right - accidents happen and we just have to learn from them -

hopefully her pain is subsiding and she's going to be ok -
did the vet give you anything for her pain ? I wish her all the best and am glad to hear it wasn't broken - I've shut my own fingers in doors and it DOES make you want to scream....

That's great news! When Lucy was about the same age, she jumped off the top of the couch because she was excited that I was coming in the front door. I just KNEW her leg was broken because she screamed bloody murder! Luckily, the vet was still open and I called and took her in immediately. After tears (mine) and lots of x-rays, the vet determined that her leg was not broken, just really sore. Lucy would not put that leg down. Finally, my son told me to fill the bath tub with warm water, put my hand under her belly and MAKE her swim to exercise the leg and show her that it wouldn't kill her to move it.

It worked. Within 3 days she was fine and acting like nothing had happened. Try it with your baby in a couple of days and see if this works for you.

Kitty I am sooo glad your baby is fine. I guess I am very fortunate because my vet is on call and goes to the office 24 hours a day. Maybe he is a rare one but I am sure glad to have one like that.

When Daisy had her broken leg on a Sunday afternoon, I called the vet and he said to wait till Monday at noon to see her and did not set her leg until Tuesday morning. She did fine .

I would definitely get to the vet ASAP!

I have a chihuahua/pomeranian mix and something similar happened to her when she was about 2 months old. She know only has use of her two front legs and one back leg. She still has all four legs (we opted not to get the "broken" leg removed since she still has use of it)

What happened was, the tendant was moved in her leg from running down the front of her leg to the side and it caused the leg to get "pulled" and it is now permanately in an up position.

Please get ur baby checked asap!

Vilette,

I like how you try to make her feel better by saying she could have slammed the pups neck.

But I did feel better when you said you shut doors on your fingers I can just picture it

Hi,

I am so sorry about your baby! And like others have posted it was a accident..
It could have happened to any of us! I have almost got mine a few times going
Out the door and one being on my heals..

And also keep in mind it can be fixed. I do have to agree with the person that
Posted that you may want to re-check on Vet.. I wouldn’t be happy if mine asked
Me to wait to the next day to see mine. And most of all after telling me that it was
A good chance that it was broken..

What really does worry me.. is you saying pup seem like it was in shock.
Shock is a serious condition and can cause death long before the broken leg.
You may want to take a peek at the gums and see if they are a nice pink color.
Also you but a little pressure on the gum with your finger and then pull away
Quick you should see the nice pick color return quick.. There are some other
Signs of shock… You may be able to find some info on the net that will help
You more to evaluate this..

You may find in re-calling your Vet with the concern of shock that they will
Have you come in right away.. And even if you only have a bruise or tissue
Swelling still can make a pup have shock response..

I know you are stress and very upset about what happened.. And I don’t mean to
Add to your stress.. But would fell much worse to read a follow up post …
With the un thinkable..

Nell ..
