| luxating patella surgery in or around seattle? Well it finally happened. . . I think. Last night around 7pm Pete was just laying on the bed one minute and the next could barely walk. I sat on the bed next to him and tried to lure him with a treat and he wouldnt get up (highly unusual for my little porker!), I finally got him to take a few steps and he almost stumbled the whole way . I do know that he does have luxating patellas in both rear knees, the right being the worse of the two (which is the knee causing the problems now) but we have never up until this point actually witnessed him limping or in any obvious pain. So Ill be calling the vet when they open this morning and taking him in but Im already pretty sure they'll be suggesting surgery since all along we've been kind of waiting until it starting giving him problems. Im curious if anyone has had this surgery in or around Seattle that they were satisfied with and can give a recommendation. Keep us in your thoughts P.S. Pete better not get used to this. . . Ive been feeling so bad for my little baby Ive been carying him to the potty and I also fed him his favorite chicken and rice for breakfast -spoiled little boy |

Fisrt it was kennal cough...No wait...we take him back for X-rays and now is CT..and 3 months later it LP....Geezz...Now What???? Do you know what stage your baby is in? |

| Thanks everyone for all of your concern. This morning at about 10am his knee went back to normal on its own (thank goodness!) but I still brought him to the vet for his appointment. His right knee has been a grade 3 for a while now but it has never given him any problems whatsoever so we havent done anything. Our doctor gave us some pain meds for a couple days since its probably sore being that it was out all night! And he also taught me how to get his knee back into place if it happens again. Since this was the first time he's had any trouble the doctor suggested we wait and see if it will happen again before doing any surgery, he said some dogs do just fine with it as long as their not jumpers (which Pete is not). So if we have a second episode within the next couple months Ive decided I will go see an orthopedic surgeon, which my doctor did give us a recommendation for and it happens to be my emergency vet which I have been completely satisfied with, they do good work. So far tonight Pete's back to his usual self sleeping on his dad begging me for food and seeming to have no problem with his knee, so we're crossing our fingers and hoping this was just a freak occurance. Thanks again |

| Hi there, I'm so happy to hear your baby doesn't have to have surgery. I hope his knees always pop back and he never ever has to go through the surgery. I don't know much about LP and if surgery will be something he has to have down the road but I hope he doesn't |
