Louis Health Issue... Hi there... Posted this on the General Board... My Louis on Saturda ystarted to lose his appetite a bit... He stopped licking and kissing us... He sounds like he has some congestion in his throat. Got him to eat a litt bit of wet food... But doesn't feel like chewing or eating hard food or even drinking water from his bowl... This is TOTALLY not like him... We took him to the vet yesterday and she did a thorough exam of him and really could not find anything wrong since he has not been vomiting or sneezing or coughing... It's very odd... Any thoughts?

Maybe his teeth hurt? Cause i'm sure you know but when people have toothaches they avoid their mouth as much as they can. Sorry I really have no idea.

| This does sound odd. Was a stool sample done? He has lost his appetite for some reason. With Giardia parasites, they can become anorexic. Sissy stopped eating when she had it. That is why I now cook for her. Try giving him a little boiled chicken with rice and see if he will eat that.

Definitely sounds like tonsillitis - can you feel any swelling in his neck, just below the ears?

How old is he? If you think he's teething, or it's a toothache, you could try putting a bit of orajell on his gums. (They don't like the taste, but it really helps.) Otherwise, find out if his throat is swollen. He needs nutrients, so if he won't eat or drink, at least syringe him some pedialyte or karo syrop mixed with water. Good Luck! Valerie
