How long ago was the incident with the possom? Maybe it triggered a hunting instinct in her?

She killed the possum about a month or so ago, maybe a little longer. We could tell that she was pretty upset afterwords, because she went and sat in the complete opposite corner of the yard, by the fence. And she kind of just sat there with her head half way down, with her eyes peering up at us, kind of like, "Uh oh...what did I do? Did I hurt it?" sort of thing. We think that she was upset because she KNEW that she hurt (well...killed) something that she wasn't supposed to Not that we minded about THAT incident..... that thing was a HUGE pest!!!! lol

That has to be so hard when you know they really do love each other...but I can see the food doing this - from what I've seen of my girl protecting things - it's usually toys - then food ...and only to the point of Chanel making her monster noise to Cheri ...then she kisses her better -

but with your guys - maybe what you plan to do WILL work - it sounds like if anyone can help ..you can - I can see the love you have for your dogs and it shows that Peaches maybe just acted on impluse ??? Have they ever had a fight before ?? could this be a one time thing maybe ?

Phew! . Glad to hear Pippi is doing better. That had to have been terrifiying for all! I have a Rottie/Pitt Bull rescue...I watch him like a hawk also. He has issues from his abuse too (shot directly in the face even and blind in one eye). I do hope you NEVER have any more problems even CLOSE to what happened. Man, that was scarey just reading it!

Pippi, I am so glad you are feeling better. Big sisters can really get cranky and ornory sometmes. I don't know why, but they just do. It's hard to figure out why they are like that. I know Peaches loves you and wouldn't hurt you on purpose, but since she was a special girl your mommy and daddy picked, then she might not have always had a loving family that took such good care of her like she has now. Please don't stay scared of Peaches, try to be her friend and let her know she is safe and loved. OK? RoxyJo

What a great story about your ordeal Pippi. My 2 girls get along great also, except when it comes to food. Piper will share anything, but Misha get very possessive of her food & treats. I'm always having to scold Misha & tell her to share.

Thanks so much you guys! All of your posts were sooo sweet Pippi, Peaches, and I appreciate every one of them! Pippi is still doing well and we are watching them both very closely, only putting the food down we we are out there to watch them (which is ALOT!) Pippi is still scared about getting too close to Peaches, but I really do hope that that will fade in time, because they were the best of friends
