I Am Very Upset..... 4 Attachment(s) First of all, this ISN'T about Stedman. This post is in regards to my little Mini Dachshund, Pippi. Since it is kind of a long story, I have just copied the Diary entry that I made on Pippi's Dogster just a few minutes ago. Here's the story : P.S.- I have added pictures of my sweet baby girl, Pippi for those of her that don't know who she is  Today, I am very sad. My sister, Peaches, attacked me and now I am hurt :*( Today, while mommy was inside on the computer, she heard me screaming and yelping outside and ran to my rescue. When she came outside, she saw my big sister, Peaches, on top of me, attacking me. She had me pinned to the ground and I could not get up or move. Mommy pulled Peaches off of me and scolded her GOOD! Then daddy ran outside and picked me up and loved on me. When daddy came outside, my little brother, Stedman ran out the door and mommy immediately picked him up and put him back inside because she didn't want Peaches to hurt him too. Mommy then ran over to me and loved on me along with daddy. They thought I was fine until mommy and daddy both noticed blood on their hands, and on the ground. Mommy got very, very nervous and scared and started shaking really bad. They looked me over to try and find out where I was bleeding. Then mommy and daddy found the spot where I was bleeding. My sister Peaches bit me on the side of my face, by my jaw and there is a small hole there now. Mommy was still of course very, very scared so she ran inside and went to the internet for help. She searched for information on what to clean my wound with, and what to put on it to help prevent infection and stop the pain. I was crying very badly, and was shaking uncontrollably because I was still so scared. Mommy found a web site where a real vet answered questions from people who had them. She found a question that was posted by a lady who's puppy had gotten bit by another dog in the park. The vet answered the lady's question and said that you should clean the wound with warm water and soap, and then spray the wound with Bactine and afterwords apply Neosporin. Mommy got a bowl and filled it with warm water, and then went and got a wash cloth and loaded it down with bubbly soap. Then daddy cleaned my wound while mommy ran to the store to get some Bactine. When mommy came back from the store, she gave me a little piece of chicken to make sure that I still wanted to eat. Of course I gobbled up the chicken like nobody's business! :) Then I went and drank some water. After that, mommy and daddy once again cleaned my wound with warm, soapy water and a wash cloth, and then sprayed the Bactine on my wound. After that they put some Neosporin on it like the vet online recommended. The bleeding has stopped and mommy and daddy think that I seem to be ok. The only thing they are worried about is my left eye. This was the side of my face that I was bitten on. Mommy and daddy say that I keep "squinting" my left eye and they can't figure out why. They say that my eye looks fine...but they don't know why I keep squinting it. They said that they are going to keep a close eye on me all through the weekend, and if my eye doesn't start opening up more, they are going to take me to my vet on Monday. Please say a Prayer for me that my eye gets better and that my wound doesn't start hurting me :*( Mommy and daddy and still VERY upset with my sister Peaches, and they really don't know what they are going to do. They are so scared now. Mommy and daddy always said that Peaches was a sweet girl, but they just don't know what got in to her today. They think that I got too close to her food, and that is when she attacked me. They are keeping me inside for a long time, and I even get to sleep in the bed with them tonight! I am very excited about that! :) Mommy said that she may even start trying to house break me (even though I am already 3 years old!) because she is too scared to let me back outside with my sister. I normally prefer to be outside, because I have a big backyard that I love to run, and jump, and play in....but now mommy is just too scared. I am a very sweet little girl and would really appreciate everyones thoughts and Prayers right now. I am still very shaken up over what happened today :( RUFF! RUFF! All my Love, ~Pippi |
I'm sorry your little girl got her. Her eye might have been scratched, or she might have someting in it. I hope she feels better soon. |
Oh, my, sounds like the family had a busy day. I'm so glad she's not hurt more severely as it sounds like Peaches had her mind made up. Let's hope she just got something in her eye or it just has a little scratch. Good luck on your housetraining, and hopefully you can teach an old dog new tricks.:animal36 |
Oh poor baby!! I hope you get better real soon!!! |

I hope you feel better soon. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. |
OMG>.. I'm so sorry about Pippi. I hope she is ok. Sound like you guys are doing everything right. Maybe she is squinting her eye cause of the pain of the bite. If its on the same side then when the bite hurts, it may just be her reaction to it??? (Just a thought). I'll keep her in our prayers. |
Oh my goodness. I am very sorry to hear about Pippi. I hope she feels better soon!! |
I hope she's going to be OK! |
Prayers For Pippi (and Peaches) I hope Pippi is feeling better now. :) |
I'm sorry, I hope everyone feels better soon. |
How is Pippi this morning? I prayed for her last night. Keep us posted. |
How is Pippi today ? I hope she's better. |
I hope Pippi is doing fine this morning. It must have scared you to death. I had a sheltie and a miniature aussie and they would go at it sometimes because of jealousy and most of the time when the doorbell rang. It was a frightening experience. There was a 25 lb weight difference (sheltie was bigger) and the aussie would always get pinned to the floor but let me tell you, the sheltie never hurt her and the aussie couldn't hurt the sheltie as she had a full coat. But after a 60 second separation, they greeted each other with wagging tails. Nevertheless, it was nerve wrecking. So I can only imagine what you went through. My son came to live with us and he had a jack russell and while the aussie (sheltie had died) and her got along fine, they did not play together. But I had given them both a bone, and one did not eaten theirs and my aussie had one between the paws. Now, I don't know who's bone it really was but the russell attacked my aussie and took hold of her ear and I just picked the russell up and then I saw blood. Oh my goodness!!! I freaked out and rushed her to the shower and hosed the area and I could not for the life of me find the spot she had been bitten. But I was scared stiff and shook like a leaf on a windy day. She was okay and no incidences after that; but the son only lived her for three months and my little aussie had passed during that time. But I do Hope you were able to get some sleep and all is well this morning. Keep us posted! |
Pippi is doing well! Thank you so much, EVERYONE, for your kind words, thoughts, and Prayers. Pippi is doing just fine today! :cheer: She is still acting very nervous and scared today though, and doesn't want to go back outside with her big sister, Peaches :( Peaches is a mixed breed (rescue) and weighs around 20-25 lbs (she is a medium sized dog), and little Pippi is just so small :( I just wish I knew exactly what happened to make Peaches go after her like that. I'm thinking it was nothing other than the food issue. But we have had them both for over 3 years and NOTHING like this has EVER happened....but then again, there is a first time for everything.... Peaches has always been very, very protective over her territory (HER backyard!) and I KNOW that she will attack anyone who even tries to come into our backyard without my or my husbands being back there. We had to put a "beware of dog" sign on both sides of our fence, because about a year or so ago she came 2 inches from tearing the meter readers leg off!!!! I had to literally PULL her off of him and put her in the garage until he got finished reading our meter!! I tell ya what, she is the BEST guard dog anyone could ever ask for, LOL. We've also seen her kill a possum and it WASN'T a pretty sight....she grabbed the thing by the throat and shook the you-know-what out of it until it was dead...which immediately came to mind when I saw her pin Pippi to the ground and get too close to her neck....SCARED THE TAR OUT OF ME!!!!! I don't think I have ever been so scared in my life!! My husband and I just don't understand why they fight over food because they EACH have THEIR OWN bowl of food (same exact kind)...yet Peaches still seems to want Pippi's food, and vice versa. And that is where the problems start. That is the ONLY time they ever get nasty with each other. Peaches really IS a good dog. She even protects Stedman when she THINKS that Pippi is being mean to him (they are really just playing) I guess because she knows that he is the baby. Anyway my husband and I have decided to just start picking the food up each and every time we come inside. So from now only they will ONLY eat when we are out there watching them both like a hawk. That's all that we can do. They are totally fine otherwise...it's just always about the food!! I am thinking that Peaches had some issues before we took her in...she probably had to fight for her food, and we also think that she may have been hit. Regardless of all this, we still love her and she is still a very good dog. She has some issues, but that doesn't mean that she isn't worth loving :) We just have to keep and extra close watch on her. And after what happened yesterday, you better believe I will be watching her like a HAWK!!! lol  But thank you again everyone for all of your kind words, thoughts, and Prayers...THEY WORKED!!!! :D And Pippi is doing just fine :) ;) |
