Donating YT 30K Club Member | ![]() I am glad you are getting him to a vet tomorrow. Cali was very ill as a puppy with stomach issues, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and her Bile acid test, the one they do to determine if there may be a liver shunt, was abnormal. But after tests she was diagnosed with a Mild liver shunt and the vet didn't think her prior illnesses were due to the liver shunt and felt it was very minor liver shunt which needed no medicine or surgery. I just keep her on a lower protein diet. I wil say a prayer that Franco is ok.

| ![]() Did the vet tell you to not give him any food (water is fine) for 12 hours before the bile acid test? Usually, they test after fasting and then feed a high fat canned food and retest to compare. These two tests should let you know if there is a problem with his liver. |

Keeping Franco in my prayers I hope his tests comes out good, as far as the fasting Gucci had no water or food from midnight the night before... If you need to know anything please pm me, I will try to answer any questions you may have. Gucci had liver shunt operation in August. She is doing wonderful so please don't worry, even if they find out Franco has it. which I hope he doesn't ...Gina | |
