| advice, please!!!!!!! Hailey,7 months old, has been coughing a lot and sneezing for over a month and she's been on several medicine but nothing cleared that up so last week the vet after pressing on her throat he came up with the theory she might have collapsed trachea. They gave her some Cephalexin and Temaril tablets to see if it would clear up or else they would run a couple of xrays on her.Well...... yesterday i took her back to the vet to give her some x-rays to see if this cough had anything to do with a collapsed trachea but the vet said her trachea looked ok.From the xrays though he said it appears her heart is enlarged (but it sounded fine with the Stethoscope)and he doesn't know if that could be the cause of her coughing. So after telling me he couldn't help her anymore,he referred me to a specialist. How is it possible he can't even treat a cough???What does the heart have to do with her coughing? To me it looked as if he did not know what he was talking about, he was just throwing words up in the air!!!!!!! I don't know about these vets!!!!!! What should i do?I don't know what to do.Should i go see a different vet or take her to this specialist? |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Just so you know - Coughing is a sign of heart failure but that doesn't mean this is what's going on ....especially in a 7 month old puppy. Has he tried to treat her for allergies ? Is it severe coughing ? Is there something that she may be around that's making her sneeze ? |

| Do you have her on a monthly heartworm medicine? Here's a link to some things that might cause a cough. http://www.canismajor.com/dog/cough.html |

| The vet has never mentioned to me it could be allergies,he just kept on stuffing her with medicines! She coughs mostly at night and right after she wakes up,then when she's excited or when she plays with us.Yes, she's on Heartguard plus monthly. |
