I am so very sorry you lost your dear sweet baby. Now, let's take care of the breeder who sold her to you. :( :thumbdown |
I would use bleach and water as a disinfectant |
I am soooo sorry to hear about your baby... How old was she/he? What did you name her/him? My baby had diarrhea this past Sunday - by Tuesday she was at the Vet's office. It just freaks me out hearing about all these babies. I've been using ammonia and very hot water with my Hoover Floormate - I read something that said it was better than bleach, but maybe they have something specifically for what she had. I hope your other babies are ok. Best Wishes... |

ill try both to clean with.. her name (weird i know) was little britches.. my 2 yr old niece named her..she just turned 9 weeks. i have pics but i have to get them off the camera. she weighed 1.3 lbs. all my dogs are handicapped. i have a male collie i got at age 2.. he got hit by a 4wheeler and his hip was shattered.. took him to a vet and he said he wanted to cut his leg off.. took him to another vet.. after 6 grueling months of walking him around with a towel bathing him several times daily because he would lay in his own feces.. hes now walking on 4 legs and doing great.. i have a beagle/mutt shes 2 now.. she also got hit by a car been doing her the same way as the collie she is now moving around on her own.. she still has a long way to go.. the next is another collie he had something happen noone knows what but hes to say the least brain impaired.. he has to be watched because he will eat anything.. foam - chew pieces of his towel and swallow it.. he thinks he can have anything.. he would eat things straight off the stove boiling.. people thought that was funny.. hes now doing good 4th is a mini daushund another rescue hes a biter.. so they said but with patience and love he now loves everyone.. ohhh and a bird.. cockatiel she flew into a pot of soup almost lost his feet but with alot of babying he is doing great and has 2 claws on each foot.. im a sucker for any animal.. and my vet is amazing he only charges me for the meds they need but not his or test fees..if i take care of them he will give what they need..but i adore yorkies and my last one died 1 yr ago.. she was 13. not sure now if i want to try again |
Wow - you have a whole lotta love in you!!! Lil Britches was lucky to have you in her life. I hope you don't give up, maybe just wait a while, until you can heal a little. Sounds like you were given some special duties from the "Man Upstairs" - and you're doing a great job! Hope you stick around and share some of that "love". :welcome4: |
I am so sorry about your loss. You did everything you could and more. She was lucky to have you!!! I agree with a few others that the breeder owes you. I would not take another dog from her as all are probably infected with coccidia or whatever. I am wondering if it was possible that your yorkie had a major liver shunt disease? That is hereditary with yorkies. I would take the breeder to small claims court or threaten to turn her over to the authorities. Did you get to see where she keeps the dogs? Are they taken care of? Poor babies. She should have never let her go in the first place at 9 weeks. She should have been with her litter mates and mother until 12 weeks old. As for cleaning up I used to have a daycare and we would spray the babies toys and floors, furniture, crib bars, etc. with a bottle of bleach water. All it takes is a tablespoon of bleach to 1 gallon of water. Then spray on after cleaning with another cleaner and let air dry. It is supposed to sanitize and kill bacteria. As for getting another puppy. When your anger and grief have subsided I say "Go For It". Some little yorkie out there needs you and you them. Best of Luck and God Bless you and your family! |
I am so sorry for your loss, losing a pet is always hard, especially when they fight to get better...She was definitely a fighter. And you are too.... I'm full of awe, you really have a huge heart and I'm sure, in a while, when you're ready, a little Yorkie will steal your heart... Hugs. |
I am so sorry for you loss. I would not let the breeder get away without compensation! She should have been offering to come and get her and see if she could get her well! She obviously is not in to breeding for the right reasons, I would have been on your doorstep, alternating feedings, or doing it myself! Hang in there! When you are ready, there are loving healthy pups out there that could complete your home. |
That is so sad! I'm very sorry!:( |
What you are describing is congenital! (on top of the coccidia) You have to make the breeder be responsible for this. #1 her parents need to be tested! #2 They should never be bred to each other again, or likely anyone else and #3 YOU ARE ENTITLED to a refund or a replacement puppy.. personally I would take the refund, and not take my chances with this "puppy producer" I will not call them a breeder, because they obviously are not qualified. Don't let them off the hook on this, if you do, it will only be someone else's heartache next time. I am HORRIBLY sorry for your loss. Quote:

i did see where she was kept.. it was probably 60 ft long and 40 ft wide building.. had ceiling fans but no air conditioning it looked clean.. and well kept.. but it was shocking to see how many dogs they had.. they had at least 150 all small breeds.. minpins - pugs - yorkies - poms - english bulldogs - pekineese and others. the way it was set up the puppies had doggy doors to where they could go in and out.. the dogs looked healthy and cared for..all were groomed well.. sorry it took so long to post back. but i have new news my vet called the breeder will not tell me what was said but withen 30 minutes the breeder called and said she is mailing me the money for the puppy. would this be considered a puppy mill? i dont know much about the breeding and such just what i seen online the last few days..all my animals have been given to me as rescues she was the only dog i have ever purchased. |
I am so sorry you lost your little girl. Definitely hound the breeder. I would get your money back in full and then look somewhere else for another baby (if you are up to it). Did you happen to ask the vet if he had checked these puppies out and given them the okay? If so, I would also look for another vet if you do get another baby. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. |
oh wow i have finally noticed the quick reply button.. |
Coccidia is not killed with bleach. The only chemical that stands a chance in killing it is Amonia. If she has gone on your carpets, you may litterally never get rid of it. Anything she has pooed on, you need to wash in HOT water with amonia (dont mix amonia with bleach, it is caustic!) Also, when cleaning where she has messed, use gloves, then throw them away, and wash hands well...Coccidia IS transferrable to humans. I can give you some suggestions for dealing with a simple case of coccidia should you need it in the future... One being have Rebound on hand, it is for dogs who won't eat, a nutritional supplement for tummy upsets. Also, the vet should have had her on an anti diarreahal in addition to the albon. Albon just can't work fast enough on its own without stopping the diarreah to prevent the dehydration. You did your best, and I know you felt so helpless, I am so sorry. Quote:
