| Please help!!! I just got my baby boy River yesterday and now he is acting oddly. He is not drinking water...won't eat anything now (he ate this morning and was very active) and he is not moving much. I contacted the breeder and she said she thinks he is home sick and will be fine. She offered to take him back and I don't know what I should do. I have given him nutrical and he is non responsive to it. He just lays here acting sleepy or something. He has been sleeping most of the day but this seems different! He seems weak and sick. I don't know if it is home sickness or worse...any suggestions as to what to do??? I have called vets and none are open until the 10th. I am scared!!! ~Tru

| If he is unresponsive to the Nutrical and the breeder is close, I think it might be wise to take him back since we are coming on a long holiday weekend. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Omgosh - I would keep looking for a vet - you may need to take him in and I would syringe feed him water - There are emergency Vet Clinics in most cities that don't close on holidays - do you have any close by ? If you feel your breeder can better handle him right now - maybe try that if you have no options in your town. when they're tiny - they can go down quick so be very careful and make sure he gets fluids and keep trying to find a vet !! |

| Please, please try to locate an emergency vet. Give him water or pedialyte by syringe in the meantime. If necessary, please take him back to the breeder. This doesn't sound like a homesick puppy, just a sick puppy. Please keep us posted and give River a little get well hug from us.

| How's he doing? Any luck finding an ER vet? Definately give him water and/or pedialyte through a syringe. Continue to give him NutriCal. Please keep us updated. |

| Please pray for my little boy!!! I am crying as I write this. He had many seizures and I took him back to his breeder who met me half way. According to her he has calmed down some and can now hold his head up but he is not acting better. He is with his mommy and the breeder is keeping an eye on him. She gave me a written guarentee that if he doesn't survive she will return my money but my prayers are towards a recovery. It was sooooo very hard to hold him and feel his body shaking so violently. I just whispered to him and told him I loved him and the more it happened the sooner the next one happened. The breeder said if he does not survive she is having him tested to see what caused it. I can't imagine him not surviving now. I just don't understand how I can watch this little boy grow up and now possibly lose him. I wish he was ok again and right here with me. I am soooooo scared and I just don't know what to do besides pray for him. I don't want him to suffer at all but I selfishly don't want to lose him either. I am scared she is going to call and give me bad news soon. I fell in love with this little life and my heart is breaking so bad. Please everyone pray for my little boy!!!!! ~Tru

| My Lacy was just like this as a puppy. I syringe fed her Pedialyte every hour around the clock and gave Nutrical and fed her baby food pureed meat mixed with pedialyte. It was touch and go all the time until she was about 3 months or so. She had very low blood sugar levels. Also I would take her to the vet frequently and he gave her a couple of shots of glucose at different times. At 9 oz. he said she was too little to iv and keep so basically I was on my own. I never, ever left her and she repayed me by being a very loyal, loving dog for the next 13 years and was very healthy. She eventually reached 4 1/2 pounds. She died a little over a year ago from Cushing's. |

| I am crying with you as I read this message. I hurt so bad for you and all I can do is pray as hard as I can that the Lord does what he knows is best for River. I understand what you mean about getting attached to these precious animals,it only takes minutes to lose your heart forever. If you were my daughter I would want to give you hugs and be there for you, since I am not, please know that you are in my heart and that everyone on YT is sharing your pain as well as your hopes.

| I'm not sure there is anything wrong with your little puppy. I could have written the same thing about mine when I first got him - and he's as healthy as a dog can be. You said ....he ate and was very active this morning and now he just seems sleepy or something..... He probably is sleepy. Puppies sleep most of the time. I know when my new little pup was asleep - I almost couldn't even wake him up at times because he was sleeping so soundly. Occasionally, I'd pick him up and take him to another part of the house and put him in a different bed, and he'd never even bat an eye - sound asleep through the whole thing. And - if you're worried about him and fussing over him a lot - he's not getting all the good sleep he needs. I let my pup sleep all he wanted (never bothered him) and then when he decided to get up, he eat and we'd play for a while ---and then he was back to sleep for a long time again. All this is normal. And these little guys are so tiny - they do need to eat and drink - but this doesn't amount to much because they are so little. Don't worry - I think you pup should be sleeping almost all the time right now (16 hours a day or more). A 20-minute or half an hour play session or being up time - will just get him ready for another long nap. Carol Jean |
