| Please Help!! Asap My Yorkie Autumn is almost eleven months old. I smelled something horrid and noticed a pile of poop with blood in it. It had a lot of blood and looked gooey. The smell was the most worst smell I have ever smelled before. It was extremely rancid and strong. I do not know if this is her first time being in heat since she is almost one year old, could it be? Or is she sick with some illness? I would greatly appreciate any help I can get ASAP. I am really worried about her and unfortunately I have to leave her home by herself in an hour or so until around six when my dad gets home. I won't get home to check these until around eleven tonight. But PLEASE, ANYONE, please reply to this with any information. Last edited by brittanyceleste; 06-27-2006 at 10:29 AM. |

| I suggest you get a sample of the stool and bring it to your vet for testing. You can leave your baby behind so you won't get charged additional vet fees. From there they can know what is wrong with her. |

| Blood in the stool and stools that smell bad could be internal bleeding. It is time for a trip to the vet.

| i wouldnt think it was her first season as you would see she was swollen in her lady area and the blood would be coming from there but to make sure wip it with a bit of loo paper. as the blood is in her poo it could be ibs or colitis, my yorkie use to have both and would have blood and mucus in her poo but it could be something much worse like parvo which has a really bad smell, if i were you i would phone the vet and tell them and then take her in asap as what ever it is the sooner its treated the better, good luck

| I don't know anything about a first heat since Sissy has been spayed. But this doesn't sound normal to me. I've been told that blood in stools should be treated seriously. I would at least take a stool sample in right away. It could be a parasite of some kind. Has you baby eaten anything out of the ordinary, or is she acting like she is sick??? These are all questions the vet will most likely ask as well.

| Yes I would get a sample into the VEt as soon as possible because her in heat season shouldn't have anything to do with a smell and blood in the poop. |

| Be VERY VERY VERY careful, especially if you have other dogs in the home. Bloody and EXTREMELY FOUL smelling bowels are the first signs of the "P" word ( I hate to say it, Parvo). Take your dog to the VET ASAP! |

| Yes, that much blood with it in her stool or coming from the female organs and the smell, sounds like trouble, please, its worth it to go to the Vet, even if it is minor, but doesn't sound minor. Please let us know how things turn out????

| Thank you to all of those who have replied in concern! You are possibly the most sweetest of anyone. I phoned the vet and they told me to bring her in, so I had a friend take her to the vet because I had to go to work. Autumn is okay, they don't know for sure what it is... they listed numerous possibilities of what it could be, some of which were eating foods she shouldn't have (such as table scraps), parasites, food allergies. The most possible element is the table scrap. They gave her some liquid medicine to be fed orally, and also pills that are to be taken. She is not allowed to eat or drink anymore tonight, she can drink a little bit tomorrow in the morning, though. But she should be fine. This is a wonderful relief to me. And again, thank you ALL for being so kind and caring. Thank you so much |
